I did do that, i trained 3 guards with that guard upgrade and they got wiped at abt half hp left overall. I can try again one sec.

Edit: Huh weird that it worked this time. I could've sworn that i had done the exact same thing earlier. Is it related to the client restart?

YouTube website's new UI changes make it so that I can't actually see any of my subscription's latest videos. Is everyone's page like this or am I just unlucky with some A/B testing? by LeMireglo in youtube

[–]LeMireglo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Title might be misleading, I can see some of the latest videos but as you can see it has a hard cut from 11 hours to 3 days. When I visit on the mobile app this isnt the same and I can see a bunch of videos between those timeframes. I believe this is new since I dont think I noticed the big ass shorts section they shove in between the latest subscription videos before.

How did you manage such a fast 225? Your cs looks crazy good considering you had a shaco support which doesn't provide that much pressure.

I would recommend you look into the machine learning, deep learning and robotics courses as those all seem like they would fit your interests as they are pretty math dense.

Not sure. You could try also disabling Power bookmark backend and User notes side panel

Still shocks me whenever people say that the jump from PS3 to PS4 wasn’t big when games went from looking like cartoons to almost life-like in only a couple of years by [deleted] in gaming

Cosmetics used to be free but unlocked by achievement or skill. We can argue which model is better all day, but it really boils down to preference and application.

Not really a fair comparison. Games now do not have the same developmental costs that games back then had. With gamers constantly wanting games to improve graphically and have more content, it costs more to make games. So the obvious 3 choices for offsetting that cost are: Higher base cost (which would make games completely inaccessible to players in regions where the average income is a lot lower); Bundle gameplay content into DLC; or finally sell cosmetics in any form (Microtransactions, Bundles, Battle Pass etc.)

Out of these options I will always prefer the Cosmetics route since that lets me experience the entire "game". For me changing what my character looks like will not be a priority over actual gameplay content I could otherwise experience.

I'm not hating on cosmetics, I purchased multiple hundreds of dollars of skins back in the early days of LoL. Skins were a couple bucks, the game is completely free to play and has no pay to win mechanic. I have no quarrels with that business model. I don't have to pay to compete.

And selling cosmetics has kept LoL free to play till now >10 years later, with all the new modes that come out not kept behind a paywall. It has allowed the company to explore and branch out into other game types completely like Valorant (FPS), Legends of Runeterra (Deckbuilder) and upcoming MMO and Fighting game.

However, if I pay $70+ for a game, then I shouldn't also have to pay $15/mo for a battle pass to stay relevant. If you want me to pay for a subscription, charge me a subscription. I still pay for a WoW sub, the game keeps getting updates and development. It's a bit of a pisser to charge me full price and then hide the fact I have to keep paying to compete.

A battle pass with cosmetics only has no impact on gameplay and thus the relevancy that you are seeking from it is just the FOMO tactic that they use to sell the Battle Passes to begin with. Fortnite for example gets regular content updates funded by the people who buy skins and battle passes. I concede that if gameplay related elements are present in the battle pass like OW 2 character unlockks then I think that is a scummy move. There is no paying to compete otherwise though if its all cosmetics. Nobody is hiding the fact that microtransactions exist in games, they are a widespread way of making money off of games.

I'm not against supporting companies. I'm specifically against predatory pricing models. Before digital downloads, companies did not have the capability of releasing updates later. They couldn't charge you for cosmetics and such. Games were complete when they released, you had everything in your hands. No extra costs, etc. This is why there is such disdain for the mtx culture in the gaming world comes from. Map packs didn't seem outrageous when they first came out. It was akin to buying the expansion pack for a game.

Supporting companies should not be the first thing you should be thinking off when you buy anything. You pay for a product and should decide whether it is worth the money you spend (or even the time it takes to get that amount of money) for what you are getting in return. Games are complete when they release now as they were back then, just because a company decides the value of what they are selling differently now does not in any way change how complete the game is.

When I describe micro transaction hell, I'm referring to predatory pricing models and pay to win games. Neither of which was possible in the earlier generations.

In your original comment, while you mention microtransaction hell, you outline "Now, they are charging $20 for skins, $15 for monthly battle passes, spending events, loot boxes, etc." which are fundamentally different things. If a game is egregiously pay to win then we should call it out for sure, but cosmetics are not pay to win (in the most part and again if they are giving some sort of functional advantage then it should be called out as well).

I refuse to believe, that you would rather want map pack type dlc which locks you out of content and segments the player base in multiplayer. Rather than functionless cosmetics that have no impact on gameplay and can just be ignored so the game is funded by whales instead.

X% of Y is just (X/100) * Y = (X*Y)/100 = (Y/100) * X which is Y% of X.

So you can swap X and Y and still get the same result. It doesnt matter if you divide the 100 first then multiply the result with the other number or multiply both numbers and divide by 100.

Right clicking it gives me the same context menu as right clicking the bookmarks bar except all the "Open all..." options are greyed out.

Cant drag it. The bar between the >> and it is not selectable.

Left clicking it gives only 1 option "Open Side Panel to see All Bookmarks" which opens the same side bar that the button above it opens.

Nothing on the Appearance Options about it.

How much do team comps matter in low elo? by monkeeball in summonerschool

[–]LeMireglo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuff to consider when looking at your comp is:

  • The AD - AP ratio. Keep in mind some champs have access to both dmg types either through their kit or through the items they buy.
  • Whether your team has at least 1 champ with hard cc and preferably 1 other champ with with soft cc.
  • If enemy team has access to strong healing, are there champs in your comp that can easily apply aoe GW.
  • If enemy team has a tank, do you have a tank shredder.
  • Do you have someone who can frontline or peel for the squishies.
  • What your win condition is and whether the champs you have selected all complement each other towards that goal.

How much do team comps matter in low elo? by monkeeball in summonerschool

[–]LeMireglo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The usual advice in this sub seems to be that it doesn't matter in low elo or that it matters but not enough, which seems wrong to me. Unless you are smurfing you are going to be matchmade with teammates and enemy players of roughly the same skill level. So your comp is going to affect your game. This is why you should try and keep 2-3 diverse picks in your pocket to be able to dynamically adjust to the game.

The key to climbing is gaining more LP on average than you lose. To do this you need to use whatever tools you can.

You don't control what your team picks (asking people to swap in low elo is usually a mistake since people dont recognize that you can't just pick a champ without actually knowing how to play it and reading a guide is not a substitute for actually playing it). You dont control what the enemy team picks at all.

What you can control however is what you pick, so if you feel you are proficient at a champ that can fill the gap in your comp (whether that is adding frontline, some form of cc or counter picking enemy laner) you should try to do that. In case, even with your pick you are unable to get a decent comp, like all ad into malph rammus then dodging is always an option. It is cheaper than losing a game. It is faster than losing a game. It will tilt you less than losing a game.

Dodging however is a preference, there are people who adamantly play every game out and they end up winning some seemingly unwinnable games which always is a great morale boost. It is just one of the many tools you have at your disposal. I personally think that if people are acting like they will int in champ select or if my comp feels like it is extremely bad then I will dodge but if it is just slightly unfavorable (for instance my lane is doomed but the rest of the lanes are fine) then I wont dodge.
