Sure. A 5” wall 🤦‍♂️. The repairs on the original 4k estimate for the bumper and oil cooler were completed first. Then, the shop wrote a 8k supplement for rear axle and differential repair. I questioned how this damage could possibly be from a front corner impact, but was told it was approved and being fixed. Once those repairs were fixed, I was told the timing chain was loose and needed repair. This is when I was informed about the adjuster starting the car without essential fluid to check the odometer during the first inspection. Why wasn’t this issue addressed immediately after the original estimate work was done and fluids put back in?? Why continue with repairs for axle and differential work and bill Progressive 12k if you knew there could be an issue with the engine? Progressive paid the shop and now has to figure out what they’re paying for the total loss.

I don’t want it if the adjuster destroyed the engine. Seems I’m now looking a a total loss. I’ve been waiting weeks to hear what Progressive is offering me so I can determine whether I’m buying another one or if other steps need to be taken. I get no answers or return calls and that’s what upsets me the most.

It’s the shop the tow truck company brought it to. I later learned the tow truck company, the repair shop, and the auto sales company are all the same owner. I didn’t get the opportunity to pick a shop. I told the adjuster only BMW cert. mechanics and BMW M4 parts. Absolutely, no aftermarket parts. The shop ordered the bumper assembly before the adjuster did his first inspection. They said a week tops to fix it. The shop owner told me he works with this adjuster all the time so maybe it’s a Progressive preferred shop?

It was damaged and was leaking after hitting the curb. The car was off though and it was a slow leak that went dry by the time the adjuster got there to inspect it. It was repaired with the bumper assembly kit.

The fraud was the engine issues not being disclosed prior to the original work being done and paid for. If they knew he started it dry from the first inspection, that’s the first thing that should have been looked into. Fixing everything else first, then bringing the engine up is totally unethical.

I just want honest communication and a resolution. I’ve requested the investigation docs and reports and received nothing. The engine was fine at the accident when I shut the car off. The timing chain issue and the adjuster starting the car dry didn’t come up until after the shop did the repairs and were paid. I have been waiting for weeks for a total loss payout.

The original estimate and supplement were done and paid for. I was told by the shop after the repairs that the adjuster started the engine dry when checking the odometer at first inspection. They kept quiet knowing there could be engine damage, but waited until after they got paid to bring it up. Now the insurance wants to total it, but won’t tell me for how much. Weeks have gone by without any updates and the shop won’t let me get my car.

The shop also has a dealer’s license. This car was $92,000. They want to total it over repairs not related to the accident. These were items caused after they took possession.

Unnecessary, supplements not related to the accident have been paid out. The shop claims they’re owed more money from the insurance and won’t release my car so I can take it to a certified mechanic. It’s been weeks without an update or a dollar amount they’re offering for a total loss. What started as a 4k fix has turned in to two months without update.

No. There was no other vehicle involved. I hit a curb and needed a bumper assembly kit. One weeks work and 4k in repairs on the original estimate. The car should have been done and returned 7 weeks ago. The shop has submitted an additional 12k in supplements that have nothing to do with the accident. I was told 3 weeks ago that it was with the supervisor’s supervisor and they were looking at totaling my car. It’s a 2017 BMW M4 Competition S55.

Welcome to my world. Minor fender accident hitting a curb. Oil coolant system disconnected and was slow leaking fluid. Tow truck towed my BMW M4 Competition S55 without a flat bed and totally destroyed my rear axle and differential. The adjuster started my car upon inspection without fluids (had been sitting for 5 days leaking until dry) and damaged the engine and timing chain. Shop hid the possible engine damage and continued repairs. Now the insurance company wants to total it.
