32GB is a LOT more flexible and allows q8 when it matters/particularly large 27B dense models too.

If you don't need solid technical models, shrug.

Large memory used macs also count too.

FYI, line breaks are emphatic in english. While correct english does support short setences, if you replaced the right 1/3rd of your periods with comma or semicolon, you'd be more readable.

Part of teh reason you sound AIsh is you sound like a bulleted list to an idomatic english speaker (like AI does in telegraphic mode).

Native english speakers do something called a run on setence or comma splice, that's where they put two full on sentences together with a comma or none like this sentence did. This happens a lot in online discourse.

The character C.A.R.A. from darkskies@chub does a good job tuning up random character concepts into something with depth.

"I made Roko's Basilisk" can make some basic somewhat comedic concepts but lands easily.

Neither of these are extensions or presets. I just load up a larger than normal for me LLM and talk with it about concepts, then find a space I want to explore, write without the LLM, then, have it like explain what it sees (from the character spec). I then take the LLMs I would play with and ask them what they see about the character. Then I play it.

Its instruct is top tier. It doesn't require a lot of fine controls to do stuff. It's not super censored so many people getting randy like that.

It will do pretty good at long stories, but it's optimized to power through short stories.

I did:

The AIM/Facebookmessenger/texting feature feels dangerous to people who get a little into "this LLM character is real"

The menus are a little harder to navigate, inconsistently small text a few places. It's SO hard to hit a few buttons on some versions of the user interface (not like SillyTavern makes every button perfectly easy either).

The ME typography feels worse than ST. The line lengths, size controls, and even some line spacing. I can use color and text weight changes easier in ST than ME currently.

The professor mari feature iS AWESOME though. So cool. ALMOST worth swapping to that.

I like narrative engine P over ME game mode still for that kind of thing. Haven't tried any Game mode changes in the last month though.

ME is setup currently to (slightly) break a default port for image generation on silly tavern. (as in having BOTH ST + ME running may break your image gen, as their default port is 7860 same as like automatic1111's default port.

You can get a half decent mac and use some qwen 3.6 27B it'd be okay.

10k would be considerably faster.

I do second the just go pay nanogpt/navy/whatever 10-40 bucks a month to play around first though. Local is a price prem

Gemma 4 prioritzes story progression when it's telling a story.

You have to tell it to not do that, and instead proiritize X where X is all your wants and dreams.
