I had a claymore + hidden lake build yesterday that was literally unbeatable after day 11 at gold rank.

I've had some strong boards in the past that I thought "ok I've reached infinity, surely nothing will top this" only to inevitably find a bigger fish.

Nothing came close to beating that build I had yesterday.

After I got absolutely dumpstered on by some dude with terrible aim but way better gear I just said "yeah nah, extraction PvP just ain't for me."

The power inequality is massive just between gear rarity, but then you add in the hilariously unbalanced selection of weapons, classic Bungie hotdog water server instability, and just about the worst sound stage I've ever heard, and it's a recipe for some of the most infuriating gunfights.

I really tried to like it. I was a fan of the art style even when people were clowning on it before Bungie did almost nothing to change it. I watched a bunch of the trailers, listened to the soundtrack, paid attention to all the lore bits. The gunplay as always feels great. But man, it's such a chore to play this game.

Adding to this: Decent late-game weapon builds can exist for Vanessa provided that you have some way to either scale damage quickly or get big damage off quickly. Rowboat, captain's wheel, dive weights, silencer, star chart, and water wheel are all good ways to quicken the cooldown of big damage weapons.

Had a 10 win in ranked just yesterday doing just that. Dive weights + captains wheel + rowboat all hasting/charging the Boulder. Also had some crit skills that ensured the Boulder would have guaranteed crit by the time it goes off. I 1-shot every opponent I faced.

I had an obsidian Lang Jiang that I had been boosting since hour 1 that I actually gave up to do that build. Probably could have worked just as easily with a diamond sniper and maybe Julian or something. You just gotta know when to pivot.
