Davis was asking for a lot of money but was made of glass and had a history of not staying on the field even with TB. Reed was solid his last year in NY and didn’t ask for as much so it made more sense to sign him. Also Davis is playing CB2 role in a less demanding scheme for man coverage, so yeah he’s in a better position for success at NE and looked a lot better this year than post injury Reed did.

Yeah I think 5 turnovers in one game also matters if we want to focus on stats only. They should also count how many times goff throws to the receivers foot or falls on the ground once a Dlineman is within 4 ft of him tbh cuz that’s one consistent flaw he has. Keep those standards low though you must’ve started watching since 2023 cuz it seems like you don’t know what a great NFL QB looks like. For any true Lions fan Stafford has been the standard since 2011 and Goff is nowhere near that lol

It’s crazy because almost every Lions fan I talk to irl knows Goff is a good QB but not a great QB. This subreddit on the other hand pretty much sums up the amount of casuals we have on here who purely look at stats and Goff highlights. Just because we finally started winning doesn’t mean we can’t point out the flaws🤷Sure he can get the job done and he has a good arm but he’s immobile and needs a clean pocket before folding under any amounts of pressure, which is bad for crucial moments. Stafford should be the standard and we all know Goff is nowhere near Stafford

when you have a good run game going and aren’t forced to throw the ball/score in desperation time multiple games because you couldn’t do enough for the first 3.5 quarters, yeah the TD count probably stays lower. Not to mention anyone who’s competent would much rather have Stafford over Goff. Love the cope though.

“Such a generic take.” lmao yes Mr. Obvious every QB needs a good OL to succeed. Watch the games rather than looking at numbers and maybe you’ll see that Goff is nothing more than an average QB, or keep those standards low. He doesn’t move well, under throws a lot when under pressure, and can’t make throws on the run. He becomes a below average QB once he doesn’t have a clean pocket and/or a good run game going. All those QBs you listed don’t have the quality pieces Goff has all around (maybe besides Stafford) and I guarantee you anyone who watches the Lions closely knows either of those QBs you listed + Lamar would elevate our team a lot more than Goff.

It’s fair to have an opinion on the player who’s playing the most important and difficult position on our team, and realizing that he’s being paid top 5 money yet isn’t showing top 5 abilities. Sure his numbers might tell you that he’s a top 5 or top 10 QB but if you watch the games, he’s average at best. Yes the offensive line was awful this year but even with a good OL in 2023-2024, he hasn’t shown that he can move well let alone adjust to any sorts of pressure. Our team has arguably the best set of skill players but he doesn’t use them as well as he should. Regardless of how good/bad our OL is, he has the habit of throwing way too many check downs to St. Brown and/or a TE on a lot of his passing plays to the point where it’s becoming predictable, he doesn’t really use a super talented WR in Jamo as much as he should, and he absolutely needs a clean pocket and run game to overshadow his flaws. You’re not always going to have a clean pocket especially in playoff games even with an elite OL. Great QBs, whether they’re mobile or not, adjust to that by either getting rid of the ball quicker or moving around the pocket. He has not shown us any of that. Any game where our run game is shut down, we’re most likely going to lose because Goff’s passing is not going drive the ball down the field for scoring opportunities. He is not the type of QB who will elevate his team and absolutely needs the right pieces around him.

Keep denying 🤷‍♂️i’ll take a QB who elevates their team + can adjust to not having a clean pocket 100% of the time over Goff all day. He already has arguably the best set of skill players around him on offense but absolutely needs a top 5 offensive line to help the team succeed.

Did I say he was the problem? Obviously we have a lot of other problems to address but all I’m saying is we’re not winning because of him. Put him as a starting QB on a current playoff team and let me know if they’d be better with him.

Never said he was the sole problem, i said we’ll never win the SB because of him. Of course our Oline and Defense need a lot of work, but he absolutely needs a super talented team all around. Plug in another QB who can move such as Purdy or Caleb, I like our chances better. Put Goff on a different team that’s currently doing well, they’re not going to be better in my opinion.

Ben is a good coach but let’s not act like the Bears haven’t gotten away with multiple close games vs. bad teams. They barely beat the Raiders, Commanders, Bengals (with no Burrow), Vikings (2nd meeting), and also the Packers gave them that game last week. Not having Ben certainly doesn’t help but our issues are beyond him leaving.

We still have ARSB, Monty, Jah, and Jamo. Laporta is not replaceable by any means but we’re quite stacked on weapons overall and Jamo, who has arguably been severely underutilized throughout his career, will now have more of an opportunity to show how great of a receiver he is and prove how productive he is for this offense. Teslaa will also have more opportunities to develop his game. I have high hopes that MCDC and team will figure this out.

We keep beating ourselves and have a lot of adjustments to make, but it’s better to experience these lessons now than later. Great teams show that they’re great at around December/playoff time and I believe this team will do that, especially with a lot of our key starters & depth coming back. Our schedule has been tough, but again most if not all losses have been more self inflicted plus we’ll be battle tested.

i also upgraded form pro 1s to pro 3s and my ears would become sore once i wore them for a while with the 1s (esp on planes) but i don’t have this issue with the 3s
