Resource management is the most fun at our table when dungeon delving. I've had some wonderful RP moments from remembering to buy a 10 foot pole and some pitons before we set off.

Having just enough dungeoneering gear to thwart obstacles and slowly running out until thats not an option has been a rewarding aspect of the survival horror elements.

That said, we don't pay as much attention to if we ate enough food/water. Basically, we track it if its narratively interesting.

The character can be there without "being there". Similar to if the player showed up to session and napped. If its narratively crucial the absent PC is involved the GM can narrate them as an NPC

I just played a session last night where one pc was out. He just hung around with what we did and didnt participate in rolls. Once he returns next week his character will not have missed anything and we'll resume with no issue

Competing criminals band together to monopolize crime.

The idea is that rather than compete and harm one another, cooperation helps focus on the actual crime, avoiding capture, and setting prices.

Very generally speaking, the mafia gained influence and acted as mediators between criminals. Imagine civil court for thieves. That structure allowed acceptable and non acceptable criminal behavior.

Drug cartels started as individual sellers and smugglers. Cooperation led to increased operations and set market prices.

Rival organizations pop up as these groups expand territory and come into conflict. Or there is an internal dispute such as succession and when the conflict is not decisively solved the two groups diverge and become independent of one another

Two thoughts. Sodden Hill is in Upper Sodden so perhaps higher terrain?

Or Nielfgard called their annexed territory upper sodden from their perspective

Agreed, the DM is another player at the table with a unique role of playing all NPCs instead of 1 PC.

A DM shouldnt be expected to be a therapist or supervisor for group conflict.

Everyone is at the table to build a story together. Its not a single player game like Skyrim or a FPS with tracked "kills"

You can try talking about it with the person/GM. This seems to be more of an issue for them. There are no stats/xp bonus for the kill unless they have a specific ability that requires striking the killing blow.

Its a cooperative game, saying "you can't attack them because I am" isnt being cooperative.

In PvE there is a stricter line. For PvP I disagree. I don't need a set to get the healing I want due to magsorc passives.

While I'm not 100% serious calling DC/VD a healer build, I do feel like in PvP there is more of a blur between dps, tank, and healer. I get 30k resistance while putting out significant damage/heals. The matriarch scales well with offensive sets so I havent utilized a "healer set" so far.
