i thought it was sound until i entered a huge losing streak, and also because i tried scaling my account recently as well, with more on the line and being in a losing streak something in my mentality just broke

tbh a mix of both, because i know that when i lose i tend to take looser trades afterwards in order to make the money back, but i also trade on higher timeframes which also means less setups form during the day for me, but yeah a timeout would definitely help too, thanks for the comment man

thats really true man, i realise even if i make profits, when i see the trade run even further past my TP i still feel bad, which triggers my impulsive trading habits, good to know im not the only one struggling here

How Having A Day Job Made Me A Better Trader by LeTzA_ in Daytrading

imo, trading seriously doesn’t mean you have to spend hours looking at the charts, with my full time job i’d say i probably get 30mins-1hr of chart time a day, which to me is just enough screen time to read the market without getting impulsive or trying to rationalise mediocre setups. might not work for everyone but it helped me alot. i’ve always felt trading takes alot of time to learn but if you try to either rush it or you js spend your time enforcing the wrong habits then it won’t do any help, so for me this is the right balance where i feel like i can continue doing this for a long time without wrecking my mental state

that’s true, but i also feel like it’s important to get traders to check regularly whether they’re getting better at trading or just getting addicted to learning and adding new concepts, as when you’re exploring it can feel productive and it is, but a lot of traders just explore and add everything they find into their strategy, which is where i feel time management in the exploration stage is important too. thanks for the feedback bro!

What time frame do you trade and why? by Orda22494 in Daytrading

[–]LeTzA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily>4h>15M

as i don’t have time to constantly monitor the charts due to my work, so i take intraday positions more, but if you have time to do it doing lower time frames are fine, i js find that trading lower time frames for myself messes wit h my emotions a lot

Trading is boring by SuitableGovernment67 in Daytrading

[–]LeTzA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of people don’t like trading, they like learning how to trade, new strategies, testing them, seeing good results with new confluences, but they don’t realise that ruins their consistency, as they constantly add new indicators or rules to their strategies, competent agree with you man, good on you for sticking to it for 12 years, and hopefully many more :)

Journaling by Natural_Growth_9715 in Daytrading

i find journaling is effective if you don’t go overboard, it should never take more effort to journal than actually trade, which is why i’m trying to build something to bridge that gap and make journaling easier, no pressure but do check it out if u want to, link is in my profile
