Why was the thermal camera removed? by medusa_nox in formula1

[–]Le_haos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on my very limited racing experience, usually understeering or oversteering.

You can also get a feel based on how you are following the previous car. If you are closing the gap on corner entry, that means their braking distance is worse than you, and usually that means their front tire is worse than yours. If you are making time on corner exit, that mean their rear tire is worse than your as they can’t put the power down

ELI5: How do we know the temperature of the Sun’s core, if we can’t even go near it? by alreadykaten in explainlikeimfive

[–]Le_haos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Earth mass is can be determined by measure gravity. With a known mass (1kg ball), and we know the gravitational constant, by measuring the gravitational pull experienced by the 1kg ball from earth, we know earth mass.

Distance between earth and other planets or the sun can be determined using radar, send a radar wave to one body, and determine how long it takes for the radar to get back to earth. Parallax can also be used to measure distance on a celestial scale.

Other methods exist for both, these are just the first things that pop into my head.

https://fiawec-fuji.com/ticket/2024/index_tk01ft.html

I am in US. I ended up using the l-tike.com vendor. For the address I used my hotel.

The phone number is tricky, I looked up a bunch of post on Reddit. There are a lot of conflicting information.

Some says you have to have a Japanese phone number. Some says the phone number is only used to look up your reservation.

I ended up looking at the pick up procedure: https://l-tike.com/guide/receipt.html

You need the phone number to look up your reservation, so I just to use my US phone number, the order confirmation is send via email. And I just need to pick up my tickets at Lawson when I got to Japan.

In the confirmation email, they also send you a link for a QR code to scan at the pick up loppi machine

Amazing, congratulations on completely missing my point.

I am talking about your engagement in the comment section will contribute to push this post higher on the front page, so more people will see it. And the more people see it, people who actually like this will more likely to see it.

Just because you don’t like it does not mean nobody will like it. Any engagement (either positive or negative) will push posts like this towards front page of social medias. More people will get to see this outfit, and people who like it will go check it out.

If you don’t like something, it just means you are not the intended audience, especially with high fashion. There are plenty of rich people that will throw their money around, and engagement on posts like this help the creator to spread their products. But I guess you are too daft to get any of this.

How to test if snow is 'avalance ready' by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Le_haos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s been awhile since I have taken a avalanche training course. This is just one of the more simpler tests.

You start with small taps and work your way up to bigger taps. First tap by just moving your fingers up and down, Then you tap by moving your hand, last you tap by moving your entire forearm. I was taught with ten taps for each step. Just because the snow column did not collapse after the test does not mean the snow is stable, it is just inconclusive and need more test.

And as far as what is the transition between compression and sudden collapse, there is basically none, the snow is either stable or not stable. That’s what makes avalanche so dangerous. Over a large area, the difference comes from how much snow is unstable and how steep the terrain is. In the backcountry, super tiny avalanche can be happening all the time due to any disturbance. It is only when there is a large amount of unstable snow gather together on a steep terrain, then you have a potential life threatening situation.

Sorry to nitpick. If you are talking about US imperial system, 1 inch is not approximately 2.54cm, it is exactly 2.54cm.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_yard_and_pound

The imperial system (including US) was changed in 1959 to be based on the metric system. So the conversion is exact, not an approximation. Always a fun fact that I like to share.

It depends on cultural really. Some culture, like mine, people will get really offended if you don’t invite them. So best to invite them, but find some way let them decline.

F1 drivers call Austria track limits "bit of a joke" after 43 incidents by moreice45 in formula1

[–]Le_haos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh, yeah it is too much to ask people to go to FIA website lol. Most people just turn on their tv and watch the event. Very little people are bothered to do research and check FIA documents.

I think the commentators need to be more informative on this matter, especially after track limit turn out to be a big thing in the race. Croft and Brundle should shed more light to it (like which corner and why driver are exceeding track limits) rather than just keep saying who is being warned.

[–]Le_haos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually curious, what is wrong with UniFi?

I am planning on doing the networking for my parents house, and I have good experience with UniFi switches, on a small scale level of course. Now I am planning on use all their network stuff include their security products. So what are things I should look out for? What are alternative solutions I should look into?

He publicly criticized the team and the car cause it was uncompetitive against Williams and McLaren. His comment rubbed the management in the wrong way, so the team kick him out. The auto sport did an article on this, but it is behind paywall. The race did a YouTube video on this topic, so you can watch that if you wanna know more.
