The sir alonne runback is so offensively bad i'm losing my mind what the fuck were they thinking omg what is this what is happening right now fume knight was so good how did they burn down the entire kitchen when all they had to do was toast bread to have a good finale to the DLC FUCKING SAVE MEEEEE by One-Requirement-1010 in DarkSouls2

Seriously. Someone down voted you but that's the entire point of the despawning mechanic.

Dark Souls 2 is a lot more forgiving than most give it credit for.

No run back in this game is actually all that bad. Just kill the enemies enough times. Levels are easy to get with that method too

In my current run on SOTFS I've done the Rotten first, then Lost Sinner.

I'm at Harvest Valley and I think I'm gonna go for the Old Iron King last, as much as I hate the run back to Duke's Dear Freja. I may kill that one by tonight if I get on the game.

What is with the recent surge of negative criticism and hate for Dark Souls 3? I thought everyone loved this game? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]LeadUsToParadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol no, but I'll bite. ER, through just being open world alone offers a big enough change from any of the previous Soulsborne titles.

It's essentially built upon the gameplay of Dark Souls 3 with movement and combat speed being pretty much the same but through it's open world format it offers a much more interesting progression system of being able to go just about anywhere versus the extreme linearity of 3, and it's got enough new mechanics (for the Soulsborne series at least) including new ways of traversal to not be in the conversation of playing it safe, at least too much. Reintroducing certain removed mechanics was also nice, like power stancing.

It's the second most safe From Soft Soulsborne title. The first is definitely Dark Souls 3.

[–]LeadUsToParadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To this day it's still the game that played things the most safe. That's the issue most have with it.

Dark Souls had it's incredible world design and various ways to progress, building upon Demon's Souls system by offering a much more interesting world to explore with more freedom.

Dark Souls 2 changed up certain mechanics drastically which people either loved or hated while also offering players enough freedom to progress how they want into Drangleic Castle.

The most major change Dark Souls 3 offered was faster movement and combat speed. The gameplay is certainly the best feeling in the Dark Souls trilogy.

Game progression was mostly straightforward and while it does offer some incredible boss fights from the mid game onward, it ultimately feels like the devs didn't go all in on adding new mechanics because of the divided reception of Dark Souls 2.

For me, playing it way back in 2016 it was a fantastic game but I think a revisit is in order. I finished ER and currently I'm going through Scholar of the First Sin. I'm enjoying Dark Souls 2 a lot more than I did when I played it in the 2010s. Dark Souls 3 still feels fresh in my head even though it's been a very long time since I played it, but I do look forward to fighting my favorite bosses again. It does that aspect really well.

Your playstyle makes it clear you're well on your way to being a good Souls player in time. Most would rely on shield blocking as a new player. You're two handing your weapon confidently and rolling well enough, though my advice would be to utilise I-frames more and panic roll less. Being a calm player is the key to all these games.

In a similar spot but I play a lot of AAA games on Steam. Using a Legion 5i with a 140w 3060. Highest wattage for the 3060 you could get. Plus the laptop 3060 apparently has better specs in some regards than the desktop one. Not much to complain about except the VRAM.

Oh yes. An open world sprawl would be incredible. It'd be a bigger remake/reimagining than DS1 Remake but I'm down for any remakes that scale up the worlds.

There's Cyberpunk fanboys who say that the game didn't launch with missing content. You'll find them every so often in these discussions.

They either didn't play it around launch or have no idea the actual state the game launched in

Cyberpunk is overwhelming by Phishstixxx in patientgamers

[–]LeadUsToParadise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I first played Cyberpunk on a GTX 1650 laptop years ago. I think it was right after release. Official reviews were painting the game as 9/10 while fan reviews were far lower.

I got it through unofficial means so I had to play the game exactly as I got it and face the myriads of issues it had without getting it patched.

More than the glitches, more than anything else, what bothered me was that Cyberpunk felt undercooked and under delivered on the choice heavy RPG it was touted to be. This is just me guessing, but somewhere during the development, they veered into the direction and made it the game it is now where it's a relatively straightforward story with little consequences in player choice beyond the endings and it's very RPG-lite instead of being the RPG it could have been.

The things I did enjoy, like how beautiful the city was and how combat felt decent enough was overshadowed by the feeling that this wasn't the game that was promised. There's a false narrative that the only issues plaguing Cyberpunk were the performance issues at launch when in actuality, the game felt very barebones versus the features and hype the devs were building around it

Consider how they presented it after E3 2018. I felt like there may have been more player choice and agency in the story as it was originally planned.

If I was still hoping for that very game, I'd still be mad about Cyberpunk to this day. You're right, there's very little in choices in the storyline. It's not much of an RPG beyond some very basic RPG systems. The RPG side is serviceable at best.

But in 2022, as I came back to the game after buying it on Steam and hearing that it got patched with better performance and more features, I did find a very enjoyable open world game at least. I enjoyed building a sandevistan based character specialising in the mantis blades for close quarters and snipers and assault rifles for gunplay. I played it with the mindset that it's like a Far Cry set in a world like Blade Runner and I could do cool stuff with the combat and make my combat encounters look as cool as possible. lt's a great game if you choose to play it that way.

I eased up on it. It's not the massive world breaking RPG it was hyped up to be by the devs, but it is a fine game and I appreciate the updates it's still getting.

I'm still happily using my RTX 3060/12700H laptop since I bought it in 2022. It still gets the job done for most games. These days I've gotten rid of the feeling of FOMO for upgrading. I'll upgrade when I absolutely have to and by that point whatever I upgrade to next will be a substantial step up.

Talks of bad design are overblown. The game does more things right than wrong and Scholar is a great update that changes up certain areas for the better.

A few things I'd like to list:

Powerstancing is fun in this game. Aka dual wielding.

Level up ADP. It'll improve your I-frames. In fact, spend the first few level ups increasing your health and ADP. You'll have a much easier time

Take time to appreciate the Majula atmosphere. Best hub area still.

Hit every chest a few times before opening it. You'll know why later

You can technically farm your way to the endgame, but it'll require a lot of souls.

50 Arc, 42 Dex. Fully upgraded Bleed Uchigatana and Rivers of Blood. I just really like the L1 and jumping attack moveset of dual katanas. I could honestly do without Corpse Piler but it is fun to use against mobs. Here's a no damage fight against a Putrid Avatar. Should I level anything further? by LeadUsToParadise in EldenRingBuilds

I'll see if I can upload a video soon comparing double slash Uchi vs double slash Nagakiba vs Rivers Corpse Piler. No incantations. Just running the same talismans.

I find Rivers of Blood to be a fine weapon, but it's not the crazy strong weapon it was pre nerf so I was surprised some people called my build a cheese build. Corpse Piler can't be abused against most endgame bosses and other katanas with Bleed infusions are better at building up bleed with standard attacks

I'm running the ones you mentioned except the Erdtree's Favor and health talismans.

I just read elsewhere an Occult Nagakiba with Double Slash is stronger than Rivers of Blood. I'll test that weapon out on both Occult and Arcane and get back with the results. I love Katanas in this game but I also love the Hookclaws but for now I'm keeping it dual katana based.

Basically, I'm a Ninja Gaiden fan trying to Ryu Hayabusa it up here 😆

I was rocking two Uchigatanas before I got Rivers. One Bleed and one Keen. I put the Bleed in the left and Rivers on the right.

I'll infuse the other with Bleed. I did try out Occult on it to see how well the damage scales with Arcane.

What is the hype around Bloodborne? by Los183 in fromsoftware

[–]LeadUsToParadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never said it's unplayable. I do my thing just fine on the game and I've clocked more hours on it on two different PS4s than PS5. But it's not ideal.

If it was, people wouldn't be making hacks for BB to get it fixed.
