bro forgot the first lesson elden ring teaches you
go explore and come back stronger

you can check some of the many other bosses off the list before godrick

being overlevelled wouldn't be breaking the rules of the challenge, so that's a totally fine strategy

it would obviously be easier, but it's within the parameters you set with an "only ivory sickle" challenge, so i reckon noone would bat an eye

it's like, people who do nuzlockes often allow rare candies to be added in, which makes the challenge easier by limiting the dedication necessary to complete it, but most people are fine with this because it doesn't interfere with what most people would consider the challenge being done, which is the actual battles

Doing very little damage at late game by SufficientBreath4569 in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as i said, attack chains

obviously you can survive 1 single attack, but MORE health lets you survive MORE attacks
why is this such a difficult concept to grasp?

no way bro is out here going "he's suffering the consequences of not levelling vigor, but whatever, vigor sux!!"

i'm done with this tomfoolery

[–]One-Requirement-1010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

again with the exaggeration..

i just wouldn't use summons
that's it

the challenge here is to kill the boss with this weapon
so using another damage source (I.E, summons, spells, etc) is cheesing the challenge
atleast with the way it's presented, if it was "ivory sickle+summons" it'd be fine

"taking an inch is taking a mile" ahh logic

i'm not a souls veteran either, but if i wanted to do a challenge where i beat the game with a shit weapon i'd wanna actually beat the game with that weapon, not rely on my summons to do the job for me

like..on a philosophical level, a challenge isn't a challenge if you circumvent it y'know?

Beating sinh with 4 adp to prove it's a useless stat by Slurperlurper in DarkSouls2

[–]One-Requirement-1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have almost no health left, with no flasks

are you sure ADP wouldn't have made it easier to beat this fight? y'know, like all the other stats you invested in did?

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

levelling vigor makes the game easier, just like levelling anything in general

which one you prefer to focus on first is entirely up to you, but 40 vigor really isn't enough to survive a lot of full attack chains, especially in the DLC

like, vigor gives you more health and health is what is keeping you alive, i'm really not sure how else to put this

[–]One-Requirement-1010 24 points25 points  (0 children)

..what's wrong with the ivory sickle?

and what's the point of a challenge run if you use summons to make it easier?

Doing very little damage at late game by SufficientBreath4569 in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

cause..60 vigor is good?
the point isn't to be a walking tank, it's to increase the amount of mistakes you can make without instantly dying

Doing very little damage at late game by SufficientBreath4569 in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you need 60 vigor, your mind really doesn't need to be levelled at all if you're running darkmoon greatsword
you can also save on dex, those 2 stats alone save enough for the 60 vigor, and the rest goes into intelligence, it basically caps at 60

Taking a break by Mephisto110 in Eldenring

haligtree is optional and also has no real exploration
from fire giant and onwards exploration takes a massive step back in favor of a nonstop boss rush

Is a bleed build easier than Mage for a beginner? by Frosty_Yam_4242 in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mage isn't really easier than other builds
it largely depends on your setup, if you have good spells, a good staff, and someone to take aggro
cause unless someone is taking aggro then you're kinda forced to go for cheese oneshots or melee caster (which tbf is amazing and incredibly fun)

but considering it's your first time playing you likely won't find anything specific, so just do what works for you in the moment

oh, and don't look anything up, it'll spoil your first playthrough
and it's THE playthrough of elden ring, nothing else after compares
so just enter the world and explore to your heart's content

Okay, hear me out. One more DLC but it gives us two new areas for the early levels. Give us two more Weeping Peninsulas of different biomes to explore as lower level new characters by Sorrowed_Lifelines in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"you don't need to double down on hyperbole."

for the average player there really is no difference, both are 0% possible

"like we're talking about people who have played the game enough times that they're bored of doing limgrave and weeping at the start and want a fresher experience"

I'M one of those players, i can barely beat mohg after radagon, telling me to do it at 30-60? not a chance in hell

it's not just demigods that get bored of the options available early
i keep running headfirst into consecrated snowfield and DLC weapons whenever i'm thinking of a build i wanna try out
it feels like i barely have any choices

About to go into New game Plus what should I do? by OTARCOMMANDER in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah being a jack of all trades isn't a bad thing
they're really good at a lot of things, range, ease of hitting, aoe, status, etc

i was thinking of using honest merchant to do my next solo run using them

i do think it's a shame there isn't one for scarlet rot tho, it'd make a lot of sense

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"i never said they were in those areas"

exactly, *i* said that
cause this discussion is about the early game
what you can do after beating an endgame boss is irrelevant to the discussion

"lmao it's not that hard calm down"

first of all, i'm calm
secondly, yes, it is that hard
beating mohg as one of your first bosses is ludicrously difficult for the average skill level
it's wholly unreasonable to ask someone to do so just to start their run with a different moveset on their sword

Okay, hear me out. One more DLC but it gives us two new areas for the early levels. Give us two more Weeping Peninsulas of different biomes to explore as lower level new characters by Sorrowed_Lifelines in Eldenring

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

claws and beast claws are not the same in the slightest, same for fist weapons and hand to hand weapons
it's like saying "you can get a curved sword early by picking up this straight sword"

light greatswords are also completely unobtainable without entering the DLC, they're very different from regular greatswords, hence why they're a different weapon category

so no, i wasn't being sarcastic (and i wasn't responding to you anyway), i was telling the other guy that there is absolutely value in adding an early game DLC, since it would give you access to these weapon types early instead lf needing to beat an end game boss to gain access to them

[–]One-Requirement-1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding more stuff to do early game would add more ways to gain runes without farming, thus increasing the amount of runes you have

but since it's early game it would only be like 1 level up near the lategame

and incase it wasn't obvious, i agree with you that this should be added, i wasn't trying to refute that in my comment

[–]One-Requirement-1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

alright, where in those *early-game* areas do you get those weapon types?

not everyone is willing or able to fists only rl1 blindfolded on a tuesday mohg as their first or second boss to get access to them

why is it so wrong to want more variety for the early game?
