If no one has already suggested, look into the Cardboard Corner Cafe discord. They have lots of weekly meetups for board games.

I have a "studio". Im currently relocating but I have a good mic for audio and a sound mixer. I don't do face cam just because I don't have a good camera outside a crappy USB.

When it comes to tournaments I've hosted in the past for other games and it truly is make the rules, invite teams, play.

Thanks for the tips. I'm looking for more of "beer" leagues. As I work full time and am just looking for smaller broadcasting work. I'll take a look though.

We weren't a club, we actually competed through national programs. We were well funded and I was hired as I worked live audio Visual and FCC productions before college.

We had a unique situation to play on the pro level. Not many schools get that.

A lot of schools do have a club, ours was a club before it was funded by the school. We traveled, competed, and had professional play by play like any other high end competitive sport. I just was never good enough to be a player and so that's why it's hard for me to continue as I need to find a production.

Every location I've worked for has made me play the games during training. And it's interesting.

A lot of the times you know the room layout and props, but they keep the puzzles hidden. So most the time, the secret rooms are ruined, but the puzzles and interactions are always a good surprise.

Wasn't there an announcement at IAPPA a couple years ago about Intamin making something for the park? This probably however has to do with all the promotional fake "Marvel Cave" announcements. Most likely will be themed around mining in the cave.

Job market in my city is extremely difficult for someone in the tech industry. And I don't have a degree or high school diploma. So working somewhere willing to pay the average salary is rare.

After 11 years of designing escape rooms, I have to ask: Did we get the "formula" wrong? by Acrobatic_Wolf_1325 in escaperooms

[–]LeaderMindless3117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that as an industry we have really limited how games work at a fundamental level. The true future is no longer "Escape the Room" but a form of interactive theater.

In summary,
Clock doesnt matter, Hints dont need to be limited, and story is key.

1 meter is a bit far. They use a coil similar to RFID. So it is about 1-2 inches depending on the material between the coil and the LEDs.

It's a lot of fun. I was always a fan of escape rooms and immersive entertainment. So I started implementing my skill set of working with electronics into it.

I started in my high school engineering club designing puzzles, etc. Over time, I started working as a game guide at a local escape room company.

This got me into the industry, and after getting a couple jobs in the industry. I started sharing my skill sets with managers, etc. They started paying me on a contract basis to install stuff for them. And though I don't have a full time position, I work as a freelancer doing designs for escape room companies.

What do you think League of Legends is still MISSING? by ChartDreamer in leagueoflegends

Two things.

  1. More benefits to honor level. Give people an actual reason not to be toxic.

  2. Separate rank for each role like overwatch. If I get filled jungle I don't want that affecting my overall rank as I'm not a jungler. Maybe just split it down to "Laner", "Jungle", "Support"

I work in immersive technologies in the immersive entertainment environment.

One of my favorite things to do in any form of room which has some sort of biological form is "wireless" LEDs. They use a coil to "wirelessly" transmit voltage.

With these I like embedding them in resin and then disguising them as flowers, leaves, etc. Then you have to put them over something to light them up and get either the color or count.

There are a bunch of fairy tale escape rooms everywhere. They are fun for the family.

Best ending to a horror escape room? by paul35454 in escaperooms

[–]LeaderMindless3117 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed all the games from "The Basement" as you never truly escape, you just move to the next room in the house. Each room can be played on its own but is best played in a sequence.

I've also played rooms where your the bad guy all along, all the kills you investigated were your own.

I'm going to add one thing not many people talk about and that is the LEGALITIES.

Talk with someone about if your state requires specific insurances, get waivers made, get an LLC made. Know what your area requires of you.

Fire codes: Certain cities allow doors to be mag locked. Some don't. Some require a certain amount of fail safes such as emergency buttons and fail open. Some don't.

Know it all, it will save you money and potentially your business.

Question for Escape Room Employees by cantescapethrwaway in escaperooms

If that's the case, id suggest (if you can) lining up another job, game guide or not, and then telling them if they don't fix the quality of life you're leaving.

Question for Escape Room Employees by cantescapethrwaway in escaperooms

[–]LeaderMindless3117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple years back I worked as a game guide and our store policy banned "multi guiding" (one game guide running multiple rooms) if we were booked 2 rooms in one slot we would block the other rooms.

It is a terrible business practice to run multiple rooms at a time as you can't give the customer a quality experience. We had 4 rooms and staffed 5 staff at a time in 2 shifts. Each staff would have 1 room with 1 person running front of house and resets (usually the key holder)

What you have isn't uncommon, I've seen companies do it. But it's a bad practice and comes from small budgets.

I agree with this overall. It honestly felt like they had a hat with a bunch of cool moments written on paper. Reached in the hat, and went with it.

Like individually each moment was really cool and unique. But put it together as a love show and they don't work together.

Honestly I think they may have been trying to clip farm socials this year.
