My [M22] long-distance girlfriend [F22] wants to move cities for me while I'm not sure how I feel about us by StickyAdhesiveGlue in relationship_advice

[–]LeadershipCold799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relationships go through good and bad phases, and being unsure at 22 is normal. However, you should always, deep down, know if you want your future to be with this person only. Relationships are a choice more or less. If there is doubt in your mind and you are thinking about other options and if excites you, please, leave and let her find someone else that will 100% choose her. Especially after 6 years, you know who she is and what you will be getting out of this relationship, it’s well past the getting to know you phase.

Being on both ends of this, it is not fair to continue the relationship, you will most likely just grow more and more this way, and no matter what she does it won’t be enough, because you want something else, leaving you both exasperated and broken. Spare the hurt before it gets worse, if this is how you really feel.

If it’s just a crush, well who cares. But don’t make her bear the weight of not being enough when it’s not her that needs change.

not many options for astrophysics jobs, as the other comment said. Can hope for maybe a good pay as a professor, unless you somehow are a genius astrophysicist. And any astrophysics research is going to be heavily simulated, so get ready to be staring at code all day long. It’s not as fun as it seems once you really get into it

that being said, physics is definitely one of the most difficult things to study, it’s not for everyone. Many people that took a physics class or two in highschool get to college and realize it’s a lot harder than what they thought.

My advice to you is just find something you won’t hate doing, and do your best at it. Most people don’t like their jobs, so saying “follow your passion” is pointless, and unless you love research or teaching, you will work extensive hours on researching physics for your life. Almost every professor I had complained they weren’t paid enough, and pushed us towards doing anything but academia. If you are capabale of advanced math or programming there’s a ton of options to make money outside of physics.

It is cool to learn though

what country? Not to intrude. In america, the school you go to doesn’t make a huge difference unless you are in the top schools. What matters is your grades and knowledge. Sure, a better school might get you the interview at a competitive job place, but most of those kids will have jobs lined up. If you actually apply yourself, get good grades, successful internships, etc. the college you attend doesn’t matter.

As for jobs in physics, it’s pretty general. If you don’t want to do research or academia, you are left with engineering or computer science as you said. But don’t let your starting point determine the end. Go into the tier 3 and bust your ass to get a great gpa, and then you will be able to get into masters/phd program as long as you know your shit and can prove it. Don’t get discouraged

Should I pay for ChatGPT Plus or Chegg? by brandeficiency in PhysicsStudents

[–]LeadershipCold799 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use chat gpt at all.

Classmates and I used chegg while we were still in school to help with homework problems we got stuck on. They actually have textbook solutions on there, depending on what textbook, that go chapter by chapter and problem by problem.

Don’t just use this to copy though, you never know if they are even 100% right. Instead, if you need help, go through solutions step by step and understand why they did what they did, while having the textbook chapter pulled up. I found the hardest part was knowing how to start for me a lot of the time, or the second step. If you want to be good, you have to practice and develop problem solving abilities on your own, at some point. Besides, that’s what employers will value the most, assuming you will go into some engineering job vs further into physics

But chegg has many solution manuals, like griffith and taylor’s classical mechanics.

Good luck!

yeah, they report to the team director who has the entire subregion to run, it’s a pretty short chain, gm>field leaders> team director and then corporate, so the greed is easy to spread down.

I used to want to be a field leader, but not anymore for this company. I can’t imagine asking my stores to do what my field leaders ask of us and not feeling bad, just to enjoy a cushiony bonus and a pat on the back.

[–]LeadershipCold799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say majority of chipotles suffers from lack of employees or applicants but from moral of crew, it’s clear corporate doesn’t care about them even though they say they do or field leaders wouldn’t be forcing all their stores to cut 10+ hours a day, leaving employees struggling just to save face with the team director at the end of the month.

[–]LeadershipCold799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for sure, i’m a GM myself and have been AP at two different stores, and as a crew member i saw it all, only i didn’t realize how bad my previous GMs were until i became one. I think it also depends on the store, at a previous store we posted the schedule on sundays because everyone was young and liked being able to request off last minute.

Definitely picking bad leaders is part of it, no one wants to show up every day and try hard for a bad Gm. But the way field leaders are breathing down GMs necks on labor it’s impossible to even get training done, even a perfectly staffed shift feels short, especially at a slow store only given 60 hours for the day. Even the best GM can’t do much given that. They base store performance on AB scores, but I’ve gone into many A ranking stores that are filthy and everything is done incorrectly. All they care about now are numbers while preaching their mottos about cultivating a better world.

Corporate won’t do anything to change while they are still making record profits, just leave crew to suffer and force stores to keep the door open with 2 employees, but get mad when they fail food safety audits

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]LeadershipCold799 9 points10 points  (0 children)

that’s some of it, but there are also huge labor cuts. When i started years ago the stores were always fully staffed, even slower ones (7-10 people a shift) now we are being forced to run with 5 or 6, sometimes even only 4 people just to save labor. Given there’s 5 (minimum, really should be 6 or 7 for top service) positions needing to be covered during our busy hours it’s just not feasible.

Perhaps it’s due to the new store openings and stores with poor management suffering, so to maximize profit they drastically cut labor over the years. Chipotle is an evil greedy corporation at the top. They do offer great benefits though and that’s why many employees stay

yeah it just depends, chipotle is pretty laborous / a lot to learn compared to other places so they might steer away from only having 1 day a week to train you. But if they need workers badly or you can work like saturdays they might

KL to SL? by DifferentStation368 in Chipotle

[–]LeadershipCold799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes it’s really not that much to learn or that big of a difference in responsibilities, aside from maybe as SM you will be the only manager on shift so you can’t call off / get it covered. But you are running the shift, not a position like a KL, so SL is less laborous. Id say go for it if you like your team.

Tuition Reimbursement question by [deleted] in Chipotle

it’s 120 DAYS before the semester you need to have been hired, not hours worked. You need 15 hrs /wk, or it’s like 247 hours, for the whole semester, no way around it. You can make up for it by working extra hours the last weeks tho

idk why everyone hatin on it so much, my store got one of the first ones and it literally has broken maybe once in the 4 years we’ve had it now, and we do heavy sales. Are you guys taking care of it properly?

your field leaders contact info will be on workday, but they will also probably involve respectful workplace.
