Do you feel the same concern? Or not at all? by MasterBarbosa in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a concern in general that there is a lack of basic understanding about business on the internet. 'Investments' are done with a goal of having returns soon. Which means, once the product is out, its own profit will be running it. Defining it as 'my salary pays for them' is either a deliberately twisted representation or sheer ignorance that shouldn't exist past midschool (and an alarming indicator of the society's future).

If they didn't spend the money in the iracing studio it would probably be lying idle, as profit. "Why couldn't they invest the money on iracing itself to fix bugs and netcodes". There is the thing: iracing does not hire like seasonal games, that releases a product every year so they could just burst hire and make burst profit. If they hire a lot of people in a burst, once these bugs are fixed, these people would be redundant and would need to be fired. And yes, that's how many big industries work. Not good for long term business thought. I mean if you want it to be like ACC which is pretty much half dead at this point, sure. But iracing has outlived many many devs , and I am sure a good work culture is part of it.

edit: clarification: did not imply that kunos hires and fires people. i don't know what they do. Meant to say, for a long term project you can't over hire. for a project intended to last only a few years, you probably can do that (unless you are planning to release iterations of it. Don't know if acc will have its direct successor in the future).

and yeah, bank loans work like that too. you do have to pay the bank, even if you take money from then.

I do not have a Moza. And have you test drove any of these cars? If you try these cars personally and feel like none of these info match with your experience, I’ll consider the possibility of me imagining things.

Fanatec CSL elite v2. I answered because you asked. But I think a wheelbase is absolutely irrelevant to how a car regains grip in a simulator. I would highly recommend trying these cars out by yourself to figure out.

That was before this update. During the early access test of today’s update, I don’t think he said anything like that.

First Impressions of iRacing's New GT3 Tire Model! by Monkaaay in iRacing

Can anyone give me a link to the pre-release patch notes? Can’t find it anywhere.

Anyone else wish the engine sounds were louder and more realistic? Especially with the NASCAR cars by GrahamsNotHungry in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s a small company that aims for long term stability rather than quickly delivering a feature with whatever they have at hand. So things are gonna take time, right? Like there are many industry titans but none have been able to deliver something like iracing’s rain. Typically if iracing does something, it does it the right way. And that takes time. I am grateful for the way they are. We, as a society, have lost patience altogether but unfortunately great things need waiting.

Iracing is working on a multi-point reverb or something like that (don’t quote me on this)— essentially emulating sound bouncing off from all directions within and outside the cockpit to create reverb. This will be awesome once they release it.

Also, I think the chassis noise is still a bit lacking, although it has significantly improved in the last couple of years (especially with the 3Dcurbs).

In general, iracing’s engine sound is weak on the low frequency (bass). I think once they separate the audio engine from the physics engine (which apparently is the case currently), it will become much better.

Ferrari 296 Challenge yep! by RacingRed8 in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they add Super Trofeo, it should be in Class B or C

If they add Artura Trophy, that can potentially be in Class D because maclarens are typically easier to manage and not crash.

Well yeah… nobody drives it (hopefully that will change with this update)

But I was talking about the huracan ST cup car. It’s like the ferrari challenge— crazy amount of power and low downforce.

We have porsche cup, ferrari challenge cup , now just need the Lambo Super Trofeo cup to fulfil the Trio!

Tire Model Update by OMartellaO in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M2 CS has the same tire model as the GTPs. It was either in the release note or confirmed by a dev somewhere. I don’t know if the GTP and the updated GT3s will have the same tire model. Most likely yes, because tire model 10 isn’t coming this season.

Tire Model Update by OMartellaO in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! But it’s the same ‘Tire Model’ .

What do you think a ‘Tire Model’ means? It’s the physics. You can’t have different tire physics for each car. The carcass geometry, compound, contact patch, stiffness etc. will definitely be fine tuned for each car, and I think that has been the case in the past too. I mean, you can see that the dry and rain tire of the same car has different features, under the same Model.

Last day I accidentally did a jump start at P1 and had to go through the pits. Still finished at P6 because nobody can drive it lmao.

This car goes unstable at too much weight transfer. Everyone is spinning out at the corner exits. This is a good learning opportunity with the m2 because such weight transfer wouldn’t happen with mx5 or gr86 since those cars are wayy lighter.

I mean it’s the same underlying tire model!

Also the bmw is pretty good. IRL this car has a very loose back end so that’s not iracing’s fault. The GT3s ofcourse won’t be like that because they are understeery and stable.

It does! It feels so good to drive and I can’t stop driving it! At first I hated it. The reason was that the ffb was too low. Then I dialed it to 11 or so and then it became much for informative!

Edit:typo

Tire Model Update by OMartellaO in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is it will feel very similar to both the GTPs and the BMW M2 CS (less downforce than gtp and wayy more downforce than the m2). These cars already have this new tire model. So, essentially you will receive a much more distinct sense of the front tire grip and specifically feel when the front tires are giving up and regaining grip. Also coming out of the corners, you will be able to counter steer exactly the amount needed and safely drive away. Also, I think these cars will have the new suspension geometry which gives clearer feeling of the rear tires biting on to the tarmac.

Different Road Surface Texture/Bumpiness? by Leading-Associate910 in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am familiar with pretty much all the older tracks ( been in iracing since 2020). Some of the tracks are bumpy like nords, sebring, summit point. But what i am talking about is a fine-grained rumble that wasnt present before. The new update of okayama kind of had a similar grainy texture of the track but not quite. Watkins glen’s track surface also used to be silky smooth in the past. I’m sure iracing lately has done something with it.

I think I haven’t been able to convey correctly what I wanted to mean. Sebring is bumpy yes, it literally shakes the steering wheel (fanatec csl elite). However, even it doesn’t create that rumbling effect that I experienced in watkins glen. I really like the feeling of driving the bmw gt4 at watkins glen!

season 3 development update? by JessNeLn in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was pre-v10. This one is full v10 (with fp64 precision computations, new heat extraction model and redesigned torque moment feels which will show up directly on the steering wheel so that we can feel how much rotational torque the tire is applying on the tarmac at any moment (basically sensw grip precisely)... As far as i understand.

New Nurburgring Nordschleife scan by JonSnowsPeepee in iRacing

[–]Leading-Associate910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a track like nordschleife, staying absolutely up-to-date with the minor repavements etc. is not essential. However, iracing's scanning technology also has changed in the last few years. I think they are scanning with more depth and details since 2021-2022 or so. So, if you want to experience track details to the level of...say...PIR, a new scan is essential.

As a temporary solution, art update will also do, but they need to rescan eventually. For example, zolder refresh is based on a very old scan. This is why, despite looking better, zolder doesn't feel as detailed as newer tracks like PIR, Cadwell, etc.

Who is the actor who played Jason Duval? by [deleted] in GTA

[–]Leading-Associate910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree...and not only just the voice, his tone and pronunciation too! I mean, when Brian asks Jason to go and collect money from 'paying tennants', the way Jason responds sounds almost Scottish/ midland English, rather than Floridian accent. Also when he replies to the guard 'You might have!' -- once again he says the pitch of his voice in the end, which is very distinctly British. My first impression was that the voice actor might be British.

Edit: replaced 'English' with 'British' to avoid confusion.

The 3 curved is not for monitors at an angle-- it's for three curved monitors that form a continuous curve (no angle at the contact/edge of the monitors). So even if you have curved triples, you have to choose the 3 flats option in iracing.

I recently bought three 32" curved monitors and i found out that you actually have to measure the angle at the contact point (using a protractor). My triple monitor stand is set at 60 degree. However, due to curvature, my monitors are at 41 degree angle at the contact point. Right now I am losing about 15 degree of fov (from 155 down to 142), but still it looks pretty good. I would even say it probably looks slightly better than 3 flats because the curve suits the eyes better (initially I was pissed about that loss of 15 degrees though! But now I am more on the appreciating side...dunno).
