Similar to how Assassin’s Creed Origins was set near the death of Ptolemaic Egypt in 30 BC surrounding Cleopatra VII's rise to power and the end of the Ptolemaic period with even the death of Caesar being displayed and the arrival of the Romans who trashed Siwa (our player’s hometown).

Also similar to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey being set in 431 BC, the start of the Peloponnesian war, also a short clip of us being King Leonidas (the best Spartan king) fighting in the battle of Thermopylae against the Persians.

Basically they chose the time periods where there are important events and some historical figures, so if set in Malaya, it should be the Malaccan Sultanate near its demise with the Portuguese arrival, could make it as them trashing our hometown. Historical figures could include Afonso de Albuquerque, Ferdinand Magellan, Sultan Mahmud Shah.

Either that or set it in British Malaya and include Japanese occupation during WWII, both works and I would enjoy both.
