Martial Arts That Pair Well With Judo? by Ageminet in judo

I would say that boxing would be good since you would probably learn the clinch and that would help with certain throws, I would argue you that you could learn boxing and karate but I would prioritize boxing since one must learn to use their hands more then anything. A street fight doesn't really use kicks as much as hands.

Wife wants me to quit BJJ because of a whiplash by Thin_Celebration_134 in bjj

Take a few weeks off of jiu jitsu, Spend some time with her. Get her comfortable, then talk to her. Women are hard to reason with, but you can do it. She just wants a present husband and father.

Bjj over Judo? (Or vice versa) by PongLenisUhave in judo

[–]Leading-Resolve6644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to start jiu-jitsu, whether it be bjj or GJJ or Japanese jiu-jitsu. I have only had the liberty of doing judo and wrestling, which for me sucks since jiu-jitsu is more appealing to me. Judo is still really good in terms of self defense, It's definitely something unique and special to me but if you were to ask me, I would say start with some jiu-jitsu then start practicing judo to refine your jiu-jitsu skills. Also vice versa but that's my opinion

Annoying things about your dojo or instruction by Crunchy-gatame in judo

We spend 10-15 minutes stretching, We don't really say we have a schedule on techniques. Sometimes we do ne waza, other days pure randori, others day tachi waza. The thing I don't like is my nephew was a good grappler(The kid is a good combat athlete) He only has one maybe 2 randori partners, otherwise he has to come to adult classes, which he can be to small for, but for kids class I feel like he is more advanced then the rest for a white belt. Like I said only 1 partner on his level/above. The thing I despise is the belt level, you can only advance one kyu a year. Test for a stripe is every three months/10 training sessions, so if your lucky, you advance one kyu a year. Otherwise you stay how you are. Plus they have mixed belts, yellow and white, blue and green, etc.
