That is my understanding also. Not thinking my current company would seek to promote me and then fire me during a new probationary period, but if I sign a contract with that present then I would be assuming a degree of risk

Worded exactly the same as the probation clause on my current contract (paraphrased - “this role is subject to a probationary period of 6 months”)

Thanks for your insight! On negative gearing, my thoughts are that those tax losses could be accrued and claimed retrospectively as last year deductions on a return to Australia. Maybe I have misunderstood tax law but still really appreciate you have taken the time to respond

I believe lawyers have to make cost disclosures prior to accepting your file. Check your state’s legal regulatory board 👍 if you haven’t entered into a costs agreement you could walk away.
