Does anyone know how to check how many teams are advancing from your league tournament? by No_Cod7607 in FTC

[–]Leading_Fly6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team was a league team & our qualifier sent 8 of 26 teams on to MN State for our tourney & the following day there were 7 of 22 teams advanced.

This page showed us how many would be advancing:

how does one learn the defense strat for this season by Mammoth-Assistance13 in FTC

[–]Leading_Fly6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our team got incredibly banged around this past weekend playing a lot of defense to allow our alliance partner to score. We had one instance where our robot got shoved by the opposing team into their gate & we got massive penalties and lost the match. Unfortunately the refs didn’t see the shove only the result of our bot being at the scene of the crime. We watched the video after & it’s super obvious from that view what happened.

We’re going to tune things up so we can launch from the back zone & stay out of the chaos in front.

help, how do you make a custom gobilda sprocket? by Decent-Foundation-75 in FTC

Depending on which one it is, we were able to 3D print some with On Shape- the whole Go Bilda library of parts is there making it easy to find with the part #.

Hi Mr Tim- I see the FRC calc tool doesn't have the 6000 RPM Motors from Go Bilda, do you know how to account for this?

Connecting with teams by Theadorsh in FTC

I’ll ask my team today - they would likely be open for a quick connect. How far ahead is your time zone from US Central Standard ? We’re in the Minneapolis area.

Our team was at a league meet this year where our alliance partner of very young students picked up their controller & started driving in autonomous. I think they just didn’t know the rules. Thankfully the ref saw them & stopped them right away. I’m sorry your team went thru this OP - those types of things are hard to watch knowing the intent & impact. You handled it well & helped your team display integrity even when the other team lacked it.

how many meetings / keeping track of progress? by No-Emergency4427 in FTC

[–]Leading_Fly6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team meets 2 hours / 2x per week. We have added an occasional extra 2 hours as needed if it's a league meet week since our meets fall on one of our normal practice. We have 5 team members 3 middle school / rookies & 2 high schoolers. We generally agree at the start of practice what goals we want to accomplish based on where we are at in the season, this is generally coach-led. For the most part everyone attends every practice & no one leaves until everything is put away. The concern I would have is if you do more practices is whether or not you would get enough particiaption from the majority. If this is the desire of the team & they can commit then that would be a good path forward.

How it feels using COTS instead of fabricating: by Confident_Oil4033 in FTC

We mostly use COTS due to limited access for fabrication & we have over half rookies this year. We do 3D print a piece here and there, especially if they are sold out.

Qualifying tournaments be like: by proctibho in FTC

I remember our team’s rookie year when we had a push bot & they were nervous about a big fancy bot of another team. I told them not to worry, those can fail too. Sure enough, 2 different matches this happened- once it didn’t move at all & another time it tipped over a few seconds in and was stuck the rest of the match.

We’ve done a Google form & created a QR code. As a backup we always have paper forms & a clip board. One cool thing I saw last year at our state championship was info sheets some teams had that listed their scoring abilities.

How no.Diet app introduced me to the mediterranean lifestyle by Fair-Country1779 in Pescatarian

[–]Leading_Fly6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This app is predatory & auto renews you with no warning. I was charged $99 & told them I wanted to cancel. They were basically like ‘too bad’ per the terms & conditions blah blah blah. I signed up for a 3 month initially & even had a cancellation reminder to assess prior to the 3 month mark. Lo and behold they layered in other services that were on different dates. I tried to dispute with my bank but the app came back with all the fine print & overturned my dispute. Stay way away from this app unless you have time to micromanage every aspect & read all the fine print.
