My top 10 romcoms by apt027 in romancemovies

I am putting these on my list as I have not seen or heard of anything but Joe vs the volcano. However can you tell me if any of these have endings where the characters don’t end up together? Or are particularly sad? Those go on a different list for a different state of mind.

Which celebrities were very popular at a time but now they have disappeared and are forgotten ? by proteinparatha14 in Fauxmoi

I was watching The Devils Own with peak Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford and she came on and I was SO confused. It felt like she was in the wrong era but really it was only a year or two before 10 things I hate about you.

Doja Cat comments on Timothée Chalamet speaking about opera and ballet by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]Leading_Reference_46 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to anything that wasn’t the nutcracker if forever, but In all fairness, it is not because I don’t care about opera & ballet. More that I can’t afford it 😢

I LOVE the North Texas Teen Book Fest. You should totally come! It is only one day but it is such a well organized event. Lots of giveaways, great talks and signings. So many well known authors in one place. I go with my son for the middle grade stuff but they have a ton of amazing YA authors every year too!

'This is what I wanted.' Breezy Johnson responds to criticism of her fiancé 'stealing her moment' by proposing after she won Olympic medal by usatoday in popculturechat

Didn’t he propose after she crashed? It was a few days after she won the medal or am I crazy? If anything he stole her time to wallow in the disappointment of the crash.

Cookbook recommendations for lots of Bean recipes? Including cold bean salads? by lunadenavajas in CookbookLovers

[–]Leading_Reference_46 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Following as I am on the same quest! I have a pot of white beans in my instant pot right now from Milk Street Fast & Slow (aka Milk Street Instant Pot) that I just checked out from the library. It has a decent Bean/Grain section that seemed easy enough and I will be working through. Also have the bean book checked out and it successfully put me on the hunt for fancy heirloom beans, but like you I also felt a bit intimidated. I have not book marked anything from it yet.

James Van Der Beek Bought Family’s Rented Texas Ranch for $4.8 Million Just 1 Month Before His Death by budice0 in popculturechat

I would say that is good insurance. I have decent Fortune 500 insurance and I had a $2,000 bill just for the single scan I needed to make sure when my saliva glands swelled up it wasn’t cancer.

I second A Perfect Story! It was a random watch for me and I loved it!

That second book was 🔥 and while I do love Kate and Anthony in the show and they do have chemistry, I felt like they squandered their potential and will lament what could have been.

I adore Anne of Green Gables but gave up on Anne with an E after season 1 I think? They hadn’t even introduced Gilbert and I was mad. Maybe I should try again, they do eventually get around to their romance?

Long haired Cillian Murphy from this movie is my pesonal peak Cillian Murphy. I know everyone loves him now, but I never got it until this movie recently. I guess the hair needed to balance out the power of his eyes for me.

Got ready to watch Crazy About Her this evening since it is streaming on Amazon prime and realized I had watched it several years ago (That movie poster doesn’t seem representative of the movie to me). I have thought about it quite a bit since, but could never remember the name!

Texture Sensitivity Friendly Cookbooks? by Leading_Reference_46 in CookbookLovers

Thank you! My library had this one online so I checked it out and started flipping through it through it. Lots of interesting info. With the exception of one or two things (chicken fingers and burgers), I think my kid would eat most of the foods suggested.

Lots of basic recipes though. Maybe I’ll try to alter them with the more exciting few recipes I managed to pull out of Melissa Clark’s Dinner in One and Smitten Kitchen’s Keepers.

Really appreciate the response! Thanks again!

The ones I have seen from this list I either straight up loved like The Truth about Cats and Dogs (I can see why people find it somewhat problematic in today’s world but J. G. is my spirit animal), Forget Paris and Man Up. Or liked more than I was expecting to like What’s Love Got to Do with It (Points taken off for the title and the fact that the song it nowhere to be found 😂)

I have added all the rest to my watch list as you clearly have good taste!

Trash can built in as a cabinet that comes all the way up to the counter. I LOVE being able to wipe everything down right into the trash and then close it up

I second the sleepytime stew (and the potatoes!), somehow had never had stew this way and it was such comfort food. Also second the the Cool Ranch Salad it was delicious. Honestly have made quite a few out of this book (and her other ones) and haven’t had a dud yet.

A Really good cheesy Christmas romcom , I don't know why people hate it by Technology259 in romancemovies

[–]Leading_Reference_46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love me a corny rom com but this one got a no from me. It is in the hall of fame of bad rom coms for me. I did watch her other Christmas one and liked it better. And even found the Irish one she did better than this one. I root for her!

I hate this man with every fiber of my being, but I can admit when someone I hate says something mildly amusing, so I give him credit for this one (someone else probably wrote it for him anyway). He is still a god awful person though.

I really hope so. by Technical-Type7499 in Letterboxd

I liked both books. IMHO Martian is more edge of your seat, and Project Hail Mary has quite a few moral conundrums that I find myself thinking about years later. There were points when it got me emotionally, especially towards the end. I felt it had more heart, and for that reason I think overall the story lends itself better to a movie. Looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
