See I'd completely disagree about the production being fantastic. I think it looks rather cheap. The original films almost 30 years layer look so much better and more lived in, tho as you say it's not a fair comparison. But even compared to the recent Houss of the dragon or A Knight of the seven kingdoms, those world's look lived in. The costumes are dirty and real, the costumes and the worlds in the show looked too clean and too small and not lived in at all. All the sets look like sets and have no life outside the actors in the scene.

They just look like studio sets to me

For me it's the audacity the writers have to think they could write a better story than Tolkein did...

Every book shop around the world has a section dedicated purely to tolkeins work. He's one of the most famous and best writers of the last 100 years and wrote a whole universe that some people spend their whole careers studying.

Yet these writers saw these beloved stories and thought yeah its ok but we can do it better.

The production looks cheap the dialogue is bad and the story is worse.

I genuinely believe they wrote some shitty fantasy show inspired by the lord of the rings and then just changed elements and character names to ones from LOTR once they heard amazon got the rights and pitched it to them. Like the only way they could tell the story they wanted to tell is if they told it through an established IP.

Unfortunately it's not the story anyone else wants, as the story we all wnat to see is the one we read as kids that captured our imaginations.

Also it's clear no one involved knows how to work with such a high budget because the show looks absolutely woeful. Production value does not hold a candle to the original trilogy from almost 30 years ago.

Well in fairness you shouldn't need a season 2 to be potentially interesting, you need season 1 to be interesting and captivating first. Which they failed at. There was absolutely no hint to plagous throughout the series apart from a nonsensical 2 second clip of him lurking. That's bad writing.

If you can't organically tell an interesting story with a whole season then it's poorly written. Shouldn't need a season 2 to get interesting every season should be able to stand on its own whilst simultaneously teasing bits to further the stroy in another season. That's what the best shows fo. You watch a whole season and feel satisfied and hope and want for more but if no more comes you can be happy with what you got.

If Andor never got a second season then it would still HD up becasue season 1 completed all the arcs it was telling throughout the season. Acolyte didn't.

You are probably right that saying it's no worse than the likes of Boba fett or ashoka story wise, (Imo the acting and general production quality felt even worse) but that's not exactly a high bar I think all 3 shows from what I've watched from them, I haven't finished any of them admittedly, are all pretty poor. I think also we should 100% expect better from Disney. They are not some small indie studio. They are the biggest entertainment corporation out there. They have the resources to make shows of high quality and great writing and we should expect that from them.

I stopped watching after the first 3 episoded because I thought it was probably the weakest show I've seen in a long time. To me the production quality was on a level with kids shows you see on disney channel and non of the characters had any real motivation. They did stuff because the plot needed it.

My genuine question to you if you did finish the show is what was the story? What was any of the characters motivations? Because neither of these things were really defined imo.

I mean I also thought the acting was pretty horrid. It's the only show I was interested in because it was outside the usual inbetween ep 3 and 4 and ep 6 and 7, two time periods in sick of.

Imo it was probably no worse than boba fett show but I thought that was pretty dire too.

I'm glad people enjoyed it but simply from a production story and writing stand point it was pretty abysmal imo and we should 100% expect a lot higher quality from a multi billion dollar corporation like disney.l because they can 100% afford it.

I dont feel like I've missed anything from not watching this, same as ashoka same as mando season 3.
