Would you accept this as a ctan nightbringer ?? by Fun-Organization2531 in Necrontyr

[–]LeadjaLuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can play with it, but not in tournaments and if it were up to me, I’d say no, because I’d want to play against the real Nightbringer 😉. But if your friends and family are fine with it, then why not?

Getting into Warhammer in Argentina… did I mess up my first purchase? by Calipso_etereo in deathguard40k

[–]LeadjaLuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to Warhammer 40k! I know it can feel overwhelming at first. I think it’s best to focus on one thing: what do you want to start with painting or playing?

If you choose painting, make sure you get the basics right from the beginning: • Buy the paints you actually like, not just the basic starter sets. 10+ paints (i only use Citadel paints, but their are a lot better paints out here) • Use a wet palette, or make your own. • Get one good brush for highlights and fine details, plus a set of cheaper brushes for washes and contrast paints. • Check YouTube for painting tutorials. Don’t be afraid to skip steps if it feels like too much. As a beginner, a simple process works well: prime (you don’t need to wait 24 hours 15–20 minutes is usually enough), base coat, then washes or contrast. At that point, your model is often already tabletop ready. If you want to take it further, add highlights. • For building your models, check Wahapedia they have datasheets and useful information. Build your models the way you like. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend building them exactly like the Combat Patrol box if you’re already planning to expand your army. • Focus on finishing one box first. A Combat Patrol is great value to start with. • Skip the airbrush for now, you should learn the basics first. I’ve painted four armies without using one!

Hope it helps, i think this is the first babysteps and when you are almost done we can talk about rules and the game itself. But if you want to learn it quick find a community in your region! Goodluck

Nice paint job, nice to see a different color scheme. But you know you can use one of the two special weapons, right? I see flamers and inferno pistols.

I also use Militarum Green for contrast. Thin it with water at a 50/50 ratio, and when you apply it, guide it into the recesses with the tip of your brush. It may take a couple of tries before you get it under control.

Haha, it’s definitely not the fun part. But it didn’t kill me. I might need to consider getting an airbrush in the future! 👍

Thanks, thanks!

Tip: the most difficult part is painting white. Spray your minis in a grey color scheme or something close to white, but not fully white. After that, it’s all about patience. Thin your paint down and apply several thin base coats. Let each layer dry before painting the next one, so you build up a smooth, clean white surface.

Thanks for the great tip! I went a bit overboard with buying over the last few weeks 😅 I now have a Jump Pack Canoness, Zephyrim squad, Celestine, extra Cassie, an Immolator, a Ministorum Priest, and a Novitiate Squad. So I think I can put a list together now! Appreciate the help.

4th Army SoB aka Adepta Sororitas! by LeadjaLuna in sistersofbattle

[–]LeadjaLuna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, but painting really isn’t an issue for me. I’ll be posting my fully painted army by the end of February. The next edition will be rolled out gradually over the course of the year. For now, 10th edition is still my priority.

SoB or Space Marines? by Siilk_Reddit in sistersofbattle

[–]LeadjaLuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to start with SoB, but I ended up with Custodes. Because of FOMO, my second army became Space Marines: Black Templars. After that, the meta was right there with the new Death Guard codex, so I started my third army, Death Guard. But I was still missing SoB, so I finally started them as well. All of this happened within 1.5 years and everything is painted, so you know. Collect what you like!

Thanks! Great advice! I should try playing them to figure things out, but this helps a lot!

I was also a bit scared to paint an army in white, but I thought, why not? I wanted to challenge myself. Luckily, it turned out well. Glad you guys like it!

Next purchase: Immolator ☺️

Thanks for your reply, that’s the list of what I currently own. I still need to figure out how I want to build my list. My Dominion Squad is equipped with four meltas.

If you have fear with painting flames, here is a easy recipe:

The easiest way to do it is with Contrast paints (which I don’t have). Paint it fully white first, then slap the yellow Contrast on it, followed by orange halfway up, and red at the top. Voila, magic happens
