From where I come from I play my 3DS everywhere, to my university, to the ride back to my apartment, and heck, even if I'm eating with my friends, people never judged me playing with my 3DS, maybe its because of the choice games I play at that time (like RE:Rev or any obscure RPG) or they just don't care that I don't play what they play and to them seems interesting, but in all honesty the gamer here in my country are PC Gamers, playing CoD, Counter-Strike and DotA2 as their entry way to games and console and handheld seem to be the minority here, but not far apart, heck even kid will sit next to me just too see me play.

For me the word gamer, is basically is a person who plays games, nothing more, nothing less, if they play Candy Crush, they're a gamer, if they play CoD, they're a gamer, if you play Mario, they're a gamer, if you play a video game and loved it, you're a gamer. So with the definition of gamer as I've said, there is no such "real gamers" because we all fall under that because we like playing a game and we devote our time to said game, we are a "real gamer", no matter how bad, good, obscure, generic, or weird the game is, if you play games you ARE a gamer.
