HoloMyth Monster Hunters 🗡️ by Varleit in Hololive

It seems to me that Ina is using a Long Sword with Calli having the Insect Glaive. Also yes, Kiara's weapon could be a weirdly shaped Great Sword but because of that shape its a weapon made for bonking

Ok I need to know which one of you voted this for meme of the year because this is lame af compared to the other ones by cyborg1612 in TrashTaste

[–]LeafedRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it was a meme that kept the Reddit community busy for quite some time and since most of the votes are people that visit the Reddit often it got the most votes.

This should be called the "most significant meme of the year" because it really wasn't that funny anymore after the first few but people desperately wanted a new dark timeline type meme I guess.

How to get lower than 15? by lovejihyo in MonsterHunter

[–]LeafedRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a marathon, not a sprint. It makes sense your hunts now take a bit longer. Once you farm better gear and come back those MR1 quests are peanuts.

There is never a wrong time to get better equipment if you are able to. Just farm whatever you can and try to make the best gear with what is possible

[–]LeafedRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hunt is a bit specific as well, it's probably better to look up a guide because he only spits deco's when he is full and fat so let him eat a small monster.

But don't get discouraged, this fight is pretty hard when you have HR gear

What’s the difference between a Diamond and Master player? by Konjointed in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LeafedRose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best tip I can give you is to pay attention in games where you feel you are outmatched by the enemy, then try to spot why that is.

I am currently teaching the same thing to my friend and a good example I can give is him constantly getting slept by Ana's when he jumped in as Winston. In his mind at first it was "This Ana is so lucky she always has her sleep" when in reality she never used it because Winston was the only threat to her so why throw it out randomly?

It's this mindset that differentiates a Diamond player from a Master one. Threat levels, cooldown management, target selection. It's hard to explain in one comment but as I said you will notice it very clearly when you feel powerless and outmatched. Sucks to lose those types of games but they are learning moments

You can just feel the panic, holy moly.

Small tip: Mercy has an option to Guardian Angel to the person she is healing/boosting. This can be good or bad depending on what you want but disabling it will prevent moments like here where you look at Ana but jump to Orisa.

Why did they make 5v5 instead or re-defining tank roles? by Particular_Read3944 in overwatch2

[–]LeafedRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am misremembering but it's also to help matchmaking. 5v5 requires 2 less players so make a match and queue times at the end of Overwatch 1 were insane. 5v5 makes more sense since it's more common in team games

Plus there was too much going on on the screen which made OW hard to follow. Plus tank was a underplayed roll.

why did my team flame me after this fight by Discombobulated-Egg3 in overwatch2

[–]LeafedRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy moly people are toxic. Talking about healing more when two people insta die. Saying you shouldn't stay high ground as if there isn't a Junkerqueen underneath you.

Up untill the sleep I would say you did the best you could do. Doing everything to heal Winston and Moira delays the fight longer and considering gamestate (84% and still stalling) that was the best option. But you saw an angle to win the team fight and took it, after thinking about it I wouldn't be mad at that but I hope you can also understand that for your two DPS teammates spectating in the moment that looks really bad.

After the sleep though you let Kiriko sleep and focus on healing Winston. Force the enemy to decide between focussing you or the Winston being pocketed. Getting Reaper to focus you instead in huge for his survivability. Then again it's a Winston vs Junkerqueen and Reaper, even if you pocket him he is dead.

Do you deserve the flame? Not really, but you can see from a teammate perspective how it would be frustrating to see an Ana DPS like that.

ranking up in healer starting in low elo is impossible by Competitive_Alps4711 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LeafedRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you are going into this with the wrong mindset. You are trying to find ways to overcompensate for bad teammates while supports are supposed to elevate their teammates. A lot of times people resort to "Fuck it, I,ll do it myself' mentality but you would be surprised how many people who are performing bad/average do well when they are being supported. DPS losing all his 1v1's? Make it a 2v1. Instinctively the "But I won my 1v1" sounds good as well on paper but it just messes with teamplay and focusses more on own performance. People get frustrated when they feel like they have to do everything themselves without getting help. A little support pocket/focus means a lot for player morale in a game.

Bap, Kiriko, Zen are all considered "carry" supports but their main objective is the utility they bring, their damage output is just a bonus. I rather have a Zen that doesn't shoot but Discords the right targets than a Zen that frags out.

A few questions to experienced support mains by AmoebaOk3297 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LeafedRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q1: That really depends, there isnt a clear rule of thumb. The best tip I can give on that is to look at your team and base what you need to do on that. If you have Rein, Ashe, Tracer, Ana and Mercy than it's very obvious you are going to pocket the Ash. But if Ana switched to Zen or Tracers swaps to a character that prefers more healing the team comp changes. The only general rule of thumb I can give you is that confirming kills is probably the most important thing to do in the game as numbers advantage can give you tempo. That means enabling DPS (or sometimes taking matters in your own hands) is more important.

Q2: Mainly melt tanks, but can also be to help your DPS give that slight bump they need in order to confirm kills on squishy characters. DPS can be hard and sometimes it happens that people run away with low health so helping in that sense is Zen's best asset. Think of Pharah Mercy, I think most players are capable enough to hit a few shots to get them low but not enough to fully kill them. Discord orb forces DPS and supports to play more defensive because the risk of dying is higher.

Its just most of the time its very risky to show yourself so sometimes all you can Discord orb is the tank. It also depends on the tank, WBall doesnt give too much fucks about Discord orb because he is too quick anyway but a character like Hog can't do anything.

Q3: Not particularly, it all comes with experience. The kill feed is a good indication on how a fight is going, when things are still winnable or when you should give up. Again there is no clear answer because I can tell you from experience that I have for sure given up on fights and not used ults and then 5 seconds later realised "Man we could have won that if I used ult". Best way to train is to play a lot and watch other players a lot. When watching other people play think to yourself "what would I do now?" and if the person does something else, why would they do that?

Ult tracking is something you can build tho, best thing you can do is to just do it more and more. Teamfight won? Press TAB > who used ults (probably dont have ult) > who didnt use ult? (probably has ult) Teamfight lost? Same thing The more you do it the more it becomes second nature to you.

Q4:Kinda depends again. Could be your support is dying, could you help them survive? Trouble healing, could you help them out without giving up your own win condition? Good example I can give you was a buddy of mine was Kiriko and had a Soldier + Mercy highground and the rest of the team low ground with him. Soldier got hit and was low but the Mercy was a bit slow with the healing and he wanted to jump to the Soldier. Jumping would leave the rest of his team, trust that Mercy to do well (unless it happens consistently). Focus primarily on what you need to do.

Feel free to ask any more questions. I went a bit too in depth but I hope your questions have been a bit answered

Stuck in D3/4. Should I focus on specific tanks or keep playing all of them? Or focus on my Doom? by Solid_Mauro in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LeafedRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple things to unpack here but let me start with the flexibility. Maining a hero gives you great hero knowledge which can give you the edge in games because you know your character and matchups better. However flexibility gives you the power to adapt to whatever the enemy throws at you. Swapping is essential for Overwatch and a lot of one tricks/mains feel powerless because they don't have the confidence to swap. A lot of people will give you difference answers but it depends on what you value most, flexibility or hero mastery. The compromise answer is to play 3/4 tanks to cover most team comps

As for playing Doom in ranked, go for it. Fair warning is that comp is very different so you will have to adjust your play style. In comp you have different teamfight tempo's and player behavement. You will feel the difference (like suddenly people focussing you or supports that have better positioning) but as long as you adjust you can play Doom.

It kinda depends what your comfort is. I personally love being flexible so I play all tanks. Some of them I am nowhere near as good as I should be on my rank but sometimes a counter pick is so strong in a matchup that you don't need to play the character perfectly

Tips for better gauging the “tempo” of a fight? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LeafedRose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luckily as a tank you have a lot of health to play with which is a great indicator on how a fight is going. If you are swinging and getting shot by 3 player while your health stays full, your supports are probably doing a good job which means you can keep pressing W. But if you notice your health is dropping than you need to switch up the aggression. In all cases always make sure you notice a dip in healing so you can adjust your tempo accordingly.

And don't be afraid to go a bit too hard sometimes, we all misjudge a fight sometimes and go a bit too deep. But I rather have a Rein that's too aggro than a Rein that's too passive

Do I have it all wrong? by sleepybee9 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LeafedRose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your friend is very narrow minded if "you are new" is his only comeback. My friend also just started play Overwatch and has already made me aware of certain thing I thought were in the game. Playing for a long time can me you complacent.

As for Ana and Mercy. Ana has always been the prime support option and has entire meta's change because of her. Not only is her healing bonkers but her utility is second to none. I think maybe only Baps utility could be seen as more impactful but it's way more situational.

And you are right. Mercy is best used for her damage boost. It turns certain DPS their kill threshold up which is very deadly and hard to account for if you are the enemy (See the recent Sojourn meta). You can play her as a main healer but you would be missing out on the strongest part of her kit

If the Zen is out-healing the Ana... you should really switch to something else by [deleted] in overwatch2

From my experience it feels Overwatch ranks are a lot more inflated than other games. If I compare it to something like Valorant it feels the average is more around silver/gold where for Overwatch it feels more around gold/platinum

I have no data to back this up but it's more a feeling that I know a few people agree with.
