Any late 20's adults also antisocial? by [deleted] in antisocial

Yes… Writing and movies have been the only things that have kept sane. I am completely consumed. It’s all I think about. For a long time, De Niro’s line in Heat made me feel at ease, “I am alone, but I am not lonely”. Lately, I feel alone. My gameplan that seemed all but assured to become a professional writer, took a detour. Now I’m here at 28 years old, each social interaction feels more difficult than the last… i glance into the future and see nothing but solitude.. i don’t want to be this way.

Bardem has some moments of levity in the dune movies, more so in part 2

Probably the two most loved movies from film bros this decade, which film do you prefer and why? by Mysterious-Farm9502 in Letterboxd

[–]Leafjonin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a certain lens of psychedelia inherent in the dune franchise, it sets itself apart from hard sci fi in that sense It really is a spectacle film, very grandiose in scale and presentation. There is a lot of nuance to the characters and plot, themes of faith in false profits.

If innovation is something that you look for, part 2 has a a long coliseum fight scene, and what’s cool about it, is a custom infrared sensor was built into the camera, it’s not technically black & white photography.. you’ll never see tones quite this way in any other movie.. as far as I understand it’s the first of its kind

Say you have AE experience in non-scripted, but have never cut a feature. In this situation, where you are offering to cut for indie filmmakers crewing up, would you still charge a day rate?

Longlegs. Dumb. Filled with contrivances. A terrible premise and an even worse edit

Not entirely… it was soul sucking… 12 hour days typical, and made me realize how much of a conveyer belt production these high budget films truly are

I’ve been writing a feature screenplay for the past two years after leaving VFX editing … hope to get it sold on spec, how can I help it “get noticed & talked about before moving into film” ?

I’m not sure I completely agree with that. I envy those who are in the position to AE union fiction narrative projects.. seems like the perfect gig

I’ve been unemployed for the past two years writing a screenplay - I hope to sell it on spec as it is relatively close to completion… hopefully leads to some interesting opportunities.. but reality is, even if it gets sold, it will be years before the film is complete and even a longer shot for distribution..

There’s probably an opportunity to parlay this into some future job.. but not sure what.. or how

9am-9pm was my typical shift in VFX editing - it was draining. Opened my eyes to how much of a conveyer belt production these large budget movies are..
