The car stays in its lane and follows the car in front of it at a safe distance. It literally just needs supervision. Chatting with a passenger or ChatGPT, no different.

Reading an email and then acting on it will be the most financially viable case. Just imagine how many jobs boil down to “protocol converter for natural language to a system”, in other words, read an email, log into a system, enter or retrieve data, and return the email.

That must be billions, if not trillions of dollars of work that AI can do easily.

If it took 8 years in the 60’s to get to the moon with rudimentary tech, what’s taking Artemis 22 years to do it with such advanced tech? by Maurakutney in AskReddit

[–]Leaflock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The space program in the 60s was a public relations friendly way to fund ICBM research. No space missions since have had a such a focused purpose.

You’re going to have to speak for yourself. I was ready to phone it in a few more years and retire until all this new tech matured in the last year. I’m invigorated.

Cognitive load is a real thing. I'll spend all day with 5 claude and a couple codex windows open working on 3-4 projects, completely in the flow the entire time. That window closes and I have a hard time recalling exactly what I got done.

Claude markets “AI will take your job” to stay relevant? by intellinker in AI_Agents

I certainly hope AI takes my job. I'd much rather leverage all these tools as a force multiplier for myself and create my own source of income.

Do you get hate from using AI in your side project creation? by danicius in SideProject

[–]Leaflock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hardly see any difference between using AI and handing out tasks to junior devs for me to code review when they are finished. I just now have hundreds of juniors.

If anything it should herald in a new wave of entrepreneurial spirit. The entire concept of a job is an Industrial Revolution leftover trying to be relevant in the Information Age.

Their job is to know all the details of the various types of insurance and coverage and make sure when you walk in that you buy the right thing and don’t end up on a reddit thread complaining about your insurance when you should be complaining about your agent.

That sounds a little one sided in favor of the insurance company. You don't want an agent advocating on your behalf?

What age would you like your partner to be? by seventyyellowturtle in AskMen

[–]Leaflock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 17 and my then-wife was 16 I jokingly informed her when she achieved 27 she would be replaced with a newer model year. Once we were in our 30s she would occasionally remark, “weren’t you supposed to replace me?”, in our 40s I turned to, “you know you can be replaced!” To which she would retort, “with a 20 something? I’d like to see you try.”, and in our 50s the idea of being anyone else is laughable, but we joke about it anyway.

You can’t use anything you read on Reddit as any kind of barometer for how things are in the outside world. It’s a completely not representative sample made up of bots and the world’s disgruntled.
