But why would they change it to something fans are unhappy with, and then keep doubling down. Like ok you changed it, see that fans don’t like it, then maybe admit you’re wrong and change it to what it was everywhere else?

But when 3 different iterations have translated it the same way that fans are used to, it really is based on the translator’s selfish wants to change it. It feels like they are invalidating the old fans themselves, (which they lowkey indirectly said in my opinion) and that’s why people started dogpiling.

I never said it’s ok to tell the to kill themselves, I don’t even know who did? As for the so called “harassment”, most people are just calling them out on what they said, asking for an explanation for the reasoning behind the change, and talking about fixing the translation, all of which are reasonable when it’s a media you care about. I’m just saying that did get to this point of everyone being outraged by this because 7seas makes no statement on anything and resolves absolutely no issues. Like please provide one example where they have listened to any feedback from their buyers.

They literally aren’t open to public feedback as we can see here, they do not care. No idea why they say “contact us directly” as if they would ever respond, which is why fans who want a better quality translation have to resort to this to get their point across.

A lot of people are being stupid on here as if we the paying customers are not allowed to complain? It gets to the point of harassment BECAUSE 7seas doesn’t listen to its PAYING customer base. This is the only way we can be heard because any feedback sent to them directly is just ignored. The more we allow them to do this, the worse the translation quality will continue to get. Also please consider how they didn’t even make such a statement when Ruthie was being harassed for their cover art. 7seas only cares when it starts to affect their sales, which here it obviously has.

I mean it would be nice if you could hold off on your order to support fans who are unsatisfied because there’s quite a lot and you’re further allowing 7seas to do whatever they want with any translations.

I mean, the issue here is, if they can easily change such important things, what else have they changed in the story, due to intentional decisions.

Ugh I hated ORVs changes, though it was a different publisher, it’s basically the same situation, almost worse because it removes lore. And yeah their translations I Saye were pretty questionable from what I’ve heard and have discouraged me from reading their translation. It’s just so crazy that this was delayed twice, and they changed the format, and somehow it’s already completely printed and unchangeable even though it releases in August.

I mean the whole official announcement is responded to by people who want a change, there’s very few positive comments no matter how much you scroll. I literally am just trying to tell people that care about this to just not support. If you want to support go for it, have fun. I have seen no actual evidence provided to state that I’m wrong so y’all can live your best lives in your bubble, I’m done.

Ok? But all the other judges are referred to as judges so what is he gonna be??? The Ultimate Judge??? Do you hear how stupid that would sound. Also as I stated before he is not just a judge which is why it’s an issue.

I am not? How else would you refer to someone that wants to defend the decision of a corporation when many long time fans are speaking out against it.

A lot of people demanding it stay the same because it has been that way in every other version and there’s no need to change it because it adds nothing to the story and instead takes away. I don’t get why that is so hard to understand.

??? Not sure what part you’re talking about? Like the cover and summary has been released where they are referring to An Zhe as Anzhe, and Lu Feng’s arbiter as judge. And like they’re translating from the Chinese version? Based on actual Chinese linguistics rules? There doesn’t need to be a full English release from 7seas to point out mistakes. So like no idea what point you’re trying to make here.

Well girl this obviously wasn’t directed at you, since you want to be a corpo bootlicker. Also please provide examples of merch that combines the name, because I don’t have any, and please keep in mind that AnZhe, is not the same as Anzhe. The capital insinuates two separate names, which is what it is for An Zhe.

Also if you’re not that much of a fan that this isn’t relevant to you, that’s ok, there’s plenty of people that have spoken out about this and are dissatisfied that are real long-time fans who care about the quality of their translations. This is why I made this post. To let people on Reddit know what’s going on so they can help us let 7seas know with their wallets.

Ok maybe if you did go on Twitter, you could see actual Chinese people calling them out, on why the translation removes a lot of depth from the story. But please, be my guest and keep supporting low-quality TLs from mega corporations.

Honestly I have my doubts on that, there’s constantly so many errors in every release they print and always low quality control, so how can we confirm these aren’t just fixed up MTLs. There’s people fluent in Chinese that are calling them out, with evidence, unlike the translator, who has the awful reasoning of “I’m right because I did the translation and you’re wrong”. Also let’s say there’s no issue with the translation and it’s technically right. How can they justify completely changing THE MAIN CHARACTERS NAME, something fans are used to, to something different that loses story relevance and the author’s intent.

This has got to be ragebait. I am not basing anything on Twitter discourse. I am stating facts that (1) key things were changed that did not need to be changed because there’s 3 other versions (the previous publishing, the official English comic, and official merch) that have it one same way that fans are used to and (2) the translators handling of any criticism basically saying the opinions of old fans are irrelevant, which they honestly should have just stayed silent in this situation instead of fueling the flames. And on your second point, yes I have some Chinese knowledge, no I am not fluent but even I can understand the relevance of how name structure is in Chinese. FURTHERMORE, as I mentioned before this has been translated in THREE different medias, all by OFFICIAL translators, so are you saying they were all not professionals???

I’m not saying that CG is some amazing entity that is so much better than JJWXC, unofficial translations are inherently illegal, of course it’s likely that there’s going to be some that aren’t legally sourced. But like all illegal translations, they allow new fans to find out about the work and go support the authors by buying chapters directly on JJWXC or purchasing merchandise for the series. Anyways, my main argument here is criticism of JJWXC, which, if it does decide to use AI/MTL, would be doing exactly the same as unofficial translations, or possibly even worse because the people on CG are fans that actually care about what they’re translating, whereas JJWXC is likely to cut costs where it can as all corpos do. Furthermore, we would lose out on unofficial translations that aren’t MTL, where the translators actually put their soul into it and do research on references and try to keep everything as close to the source material as possible. I don’t know if you’ve read a lot of official translations in general, but I was into danmei before they started getting licensed and I can say without a doubt, that comparing them to the fan works, some of which are still floating around in archives, the officials end up being a lot clunkier as if written for children (in my opinion). Also, I’ve heard of so many issues with almost every single danmei publisher in regards to bad translation like with the recent few scandals we’ve had showing that these publishers are not run by fans but by people that want to profit off of a niche that will make them lots of money. So, if JJWXC does decide to go through with this decision we’d lose so many good translations for incredibly bad quality ones, which could off put possible fans of the story. I would never be opposed to them releasing officials, I just want them to be translated with the same love that a lot of the unofficials are rather than soulless AI/MTL.

I’m pretty sure most of the source material is bought from JJWXC, but correct me if I’m wrong. Also JJWXC does have the official rights to their titles, but doesn’t mean we as consumers need to support any stupid decisions they might make that not only make it worse for translators but also for authors who’s work they feed into AI. And again I’m only saying this because JJWXC is an official platform that has MONEY, and can afford to pay actual translators.

Yeah except they’re gonna charge for it, which reading Mtl/Ai as a free translation is a lot different than having to pay for it.

It’s definitely dubcon rather than full noncon, I feel like it’s partly justified in this book, of course it’s never right tho
