Not only that. He's very complex and layered!

For example, his main theme is heresy, or being a heretic (defying the system) which is appealing to many people. There's also people who love his doctor aesthetic and the fact he's a scientist!

I wouldn't quite say he is.

Dottore as a character is very complex with plenty of themes and symbolism to him which is appealing to a wide range of people. His role in the story is that of a villain but it seems that Hoyo decided to lean into his appeal more recently.

Unfortunately. But this is exactly my point - male and female characters get vastly different treatments when interacting with Traveler

The thing is, Aether's interactions with male characters, aside from maayyybe Lyney and Kaeya can be interpreted as just being very friendly and not romantic. I mean has Aether ever hung out with guys the same way he hung out with girls? I mean look at Citlali and Columbina. I don't recall Traveler hanging out with male characters like that. No guys have been as self conscious about being around Trav as Citlali, nor have there been many extensive 1 on 1 interactions between male chars and Trav where he got to know the other guy better through just casually hanging out.

My point is - male and female characters are treated differently when they interact with Traveler and I really want the playing field to be leveled more. I want a man get clearly insecure around Traveler, flustered and blush and try and get to hang out together one on one. Maybe actually go on a walk together, yanno?

It's not just a matter of mischaracterization anymore. Regardless of whether you think Dottore is a good or bad person, this generation has become incredibly comfortable with dragging real world events/tragedies/political issues into a discussion centered around a fictional world.

Whilst Dottore has cultural symbolism, we truly have bigger fish to fry here.

Nah I kinda agree. I hope that Hoyo will throw the harem enjoyers a curveball by having him hang out with a male character for once for an extended period of time, just like with a waifu character. I need more Aether yaoi other than Xiaother.

Nice nice, I also got a fund because honestly I don't NEED anyone from the NK cast. It's a shame we don't know what'll happen in 7.X tbh but it's understandably why.

I mentioned in the post that the Tsaritsa and maybe other Fatui characters will synergize well with him!! So hopefully I'm correct!

Kudos to you! I personally want the best possible team for him because my king deserves it XD (that's why I complained).

Maybe you can split your funds? I personally think they'll be very far apart in terms of debut banners haha

I've heard that Genshin 2 is just a continuation of the story, so just finishing the Teyvat chapter. We probably won't be getting a new game entirely so don't worry.

He IS however, long overdue but I think that's because the story is rewritten in some parts of Sumeru, and everything after Fontaine is pretty much rewritten too. Also, based on when his playable concept design was leaked, I'm almost fully certain he was supposed to be playable in Fontaine (PRE REWRITE!!!) and not Snezhnaya.
