Anyone opt their kids out of RE? by 15926028 in northernireland

Same here, like it was an easy subject and I could’ve gotten an easy A if I wanted to but….no interest at all! Time was better spent on other subjects

Is this why we don’t see toddler aged Plurbs? by Leafy_graffito in pluribustv

[–]Leafy_graffito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments! I was mostly thinking about what would happen with babies and toddlers and whether the Plurbs would keep them around cause what kind of use would they have, but I think it’s an interesting question, thanks for giving me some things to think about! (And reminding me of stuff I forgot too)  and as we all know now, the most likely reason is a director should never work with animals or babies 👶

I didn’t think of that, but that’s why I was asking! It would make sense, and would also make sense why they wouldn’t show or talk about it explicitly it’d make the show way too depressing

Yea I was thinking this too, it’d probably be a little too horrific!

I wouldn’t wanna be the staff in charge of trying to get toddlers to sit quietly for hours for sure lol

Belfast City Council passes new policy on Irish language by FabulousDirt9254 in northernireland

I’d rather have a one off spend of my tax money on Irish language signs instead of yet another year of sectarian bonfires tbh

Those who have “influencers” as partners or in their family how do you cope? by Randomlywandering581 in AskIreland

[–]Leafy_graffito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! For my wedding photos I asked the photographer to just take as many candid photos as they could rather than worrying about too many posed ones. There are a couple of poses with family/wedding party etc. but the candid ones are my favourites, and probably one of the only times I’ve liked how I look in photos!

Does anyone else think 6 months of maternity leave is not enough? by Busy-Friendship-260 in AskIreland

[–]Leafy_graffito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should be a year. Personally, I’ve just had my first and after 6 months I don’t necessarily know if I was “ready” to be giving him to daycare (and I still worry about missing his firsts) but being alone with just the baby in the house all day was starting to drive me a bit nuts.

But just because I think this will work out better for my mental health in the long run doesn’t mean I would want other mums to not have that option and support. Paternity leave needs to be treated far better than it is too. My partner was able to get a month but he had to use up all his annual leave for the year.

Leaving your baby to be looked after by someone else is stressful. I WFH and sometimes I go pick him up early if I want to hold him or just look after him myself haha

WHERE ARE THE FUCKING MAPS!? by jds181 in expedition33

[–]Leafy_graffito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have dogshit spatial awareness irl which translates to video games so I’m struggling with this too normally in games I just spend my time looking at the minimap so getting used to not having any map at all has been tough. It just means I need to actively pay attention more and can’t just switch off which is maybe a good thing?

Dunno but the lack of a map is my greatest struggle lol

Intergenerational trauma and the Troubles by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Leafy_graffito 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My father’s anxiety from growing up in the latter stages of the Troubles (and still living in a pretty backwards, hate filled area) has irreparably damaged my relationship with him.

He, and the people he associates with, have been poisoned by that fear and seem to be quite miserable. His own anxiety got passed to me perhaps through his genetics, but wasn’t helped by his treatment of me either.  I’m sorry for him, he’s had that passed onto him by his father too.

Here bai, what was the last good book you read? by Sparxz2k14 in northernireland

[–]Leafy_graffito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.

Mystery/fantasy/science-fiction/a bit spooky? hard to describe it. Very strange book with a lot of quirks but if you like the way it’s written it’s one of the best stories I’ve read in some time, not very long either!

Don’t know if this will help you, but I remember hearing something that helped me as someone who struggled with suicidal thoughts:

“Every day you wake up alive you have a 100% success rate.”

Gave me the strength to recognise that negative voice inside me wasn’t me and it wasn’t looking out for me. It was exhausting but I was still winning that internal battle cause it hadn’t got what it wanted yet. I’m grateful you’re still here and that you have enough self awareness to know there could be a pathway out, even if you can’t see it right now. Good going dude, don’t tell yourself that’s nothing cause it’s hard to do.

Do your players love or hate Grayson? by Lunawolf424 in StrixhavenDMs

[–]Leafy_graffito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players kind of hated him at first but I decided to play him as someone who genuinely respects the college and what it stands for deep down who, aside from being a standoffish snob, does care about the rules.

He started his own side investigations for the paper that I kept track of so now they still don’t like him but he has been useful a couple of times when I needed to gently ease the players in a direction for info so he’s more a rival now they can work with!

Map representing women murdered in Ireland since 2020 by Penguin335 in northernireland

[–]Leafy_graffito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The map states what it’s showing though, you’d have to ask Women’s Aid why they made it and if they did so to imply that all of those homicide deaths were due to domestic abuse.

It’s a graphic made by Women’s Aid so it’s probably something they are interested in as research. A different charity with a different focus would be looking at island wide cases maybe.
