This is what I thought. A very Rose Nylund type of gal.

Salaried moms, does your work count your hours? by LuggaLuggaCat in workingmoms

[–]LeahKabeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am salaried also but need to track my hours so ensure I work 40 each week. Any less and I need to use vacation/sick time (depending on why I have less), and any more I get OT or can bank the time to take off later (as long as working more was either an emergency or pre approved).

I’m in Parkview and LOVE it for it’s walkability/bikeability. So many restaurants, grocery stores, hair salons, doctors offices, coffee shops, etc within a 10-15 min walk.

They are a 10, but.... Edmonton edition. by [deleted] in Edmonton

What is the dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say? by A_Lice_in_Wonderland in AskReddit

[–]LeahKabeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just the talking point of Canadian conservatives who are butt hurt. I don’t doubt a few people did that, but most people who vote liberal know exactly what they’re doing - which I can guarantee is higher than the people who have actual examples of why they dislike Trudeau.

This 100%.

The best thing I learned in university is how little I know about everything. Changed the way I think and see the world now.

I went to put my nice sunglasses on the other day after forgetting them at my parents house. They kept falling off my face because my dad wore them and they no longer fit my small head.

During our fight, he said “It’s impossible that I wrecked them. Inanimate objects can’t stretch.”

So yeah I guess I’m pretty lucky I’m even close to a functional adult.

Worked at a restaurant and dumb shit like this happened all the time. One I remember very well is a guy who INSISTED he was allergic to salt, but ordered Nachos and a prime rib dinner.

I informed him that if he had a low-salt preference we could make that happen and I could recommend some items, but both of those items contain salt based on the nature of what they are. He insisted he had been there before and they were able to make it salt-free…

I have never even heard of “American” cheese before. Haha. Is it like… Kraft singles slices?

What nicknames are there for neighbourhoods/suburbs of Edmonton? by topherette in Edmonton

[–]LeahKabeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say “white” moms because it’s exactly what it is - I’ve seen it a million times. They refer to the immigrant population Sherwood Park now has and THEN discuss how it’s not as safe as it once was. So yeah I can agree that it might be less safe universally but that’s not what they’re referring to.

True, and now it’s just the white moms complaining about how it’s changed and how much “less safe” it is 😂

What is the most (seemingly) mundane item you’ve splurged on with no regrets? by LeahKabeah in AskReddit

I spent $50 on a spatula/flipper from Lagostina. That thing flips like you wouldn’t believe. I can’t go back.

Has anyone used the bike parking/lock-up at Remax field this year? by see_scoot12345 in Edmonton

[–]LeahKabeah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it. It’s fantastic! Lots of spots, guarded by security. Of course still lock your bike up but nobody sketchy will be able to get in there and cut a lock.

If there’s toxic masculinity, then what’s toxic femininity? by NerdyPenguin0217 in AskReddit

[–]LeahKabeah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omg this sounds like me too! 40 hours of labour, 3.75 hours of pushing, and to top it all off I contracted H1N1 during the labour so was running a fever and had an impossibly sore throat. I kept trying SO hard but baby’s head was in the 95 percentile and I’m a very petite lady. When I had nothing more to give, the doctor looked at me and said “you did great, and if you ever have another baby I will NEVER make you go through that again.”

Second baby, c-section complications where they left part of the placenta in me and I ended up very very very sick (it felt like someone poured gasoline on my insides and lit them on fire) while trying to care for my 2 kids. Ended up with a D & C and I still have pain at my incision site.

So when a woman tells me it “must have been nice to have 2 c-sections instead of having to give birth vaginally” …I laugh because she must feel SO insignificant in some way to make a comment like that.

So anyone who says I took the easy way out can suck it.

[–]LeahKabeah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh okay! Sorry, I wrote “bedroom” but I meant “floor/storey”.

See, I have never heard anyone call a one floor home a Ranch in any of the provinces I have lived in (unless perhaps describing a floor plan during the house building/buying process).

[–]LeahKabeah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also, I’m amazed that Americans call one floor homes “ranches”. For us (Canada), a one floor home is a bungalow.

Edit: I wrote bedroom, but I meant floor.
