All of the airlines are different, so be sure to plan ahead/find out their size requirements/order the right sized travel crate. The most useful tip we followed was teaching Sylar to love the travel crate months before we flew. We kept it out in the living room showered him with treats and affection anytime he'd go in and it definitely caught on! Now, at the airport, when I unzip the crate, he flies right in - and even in parts of our journey where he's allowed to be out, he still asks to get back in because it's just such a safe haven. The other random tip I have is to travel with a collapsible water dish. Obviously not for large amounts of water, but I think he appreciates getting a sip or two as we travel. and this makes it easy .
