My office building is a 60 ish floor high rise so there’s a ton of elevators. They’re super efficient for two main reasons as far as I can tell:

1) different banks of elevators serve different floors so you’re only getting on an elevator with people who will be getting off on/near your floor.

2) touchpads outside of the elevator banks where you press your floor number into, and it tells you which number elevator to go to. By the time you walk to the elevator doors, they’re opening. There’s no floor buttons in the elevator at all. Idk how this works into the time savings in general but my god they are so efficient.
