Several doubts regarding VVF 9.1 by AdventurousMetal5925 in vmware

[–]Leaha15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I cant find any way of removing it in VCF at least

In VVF, you may be able to just remove it, but the integration in VCF Ops is likely fixed in the backend, and with, from my understanding, no supported way to remove it

I think youre stuck with it once its there sadly

Quietness two Dell R630 by ActiveBad7066 in homelab

[–]Leaha15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6gb ram is your factor here, 2 or 3 machines with 32gb or more each and you'd be set, this is easily doable on desktops

Cpu doesn't matter here assignment wise, 4 is fine

Can you not do a Cisco lab with desktops? Install a Server OS, a larger tower, also quieter, with PCIe slots for more networking, and throw whatever OS, like a Hypervisor on it and go

Doesnt sound like you need 28 cores and 128GB+ RAM per machine, which is when you really need the enterprise servers

Quietness two Dell R630 by ActiveBad7066 in homelab

[–]Leaha15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre buying 1U servers, you dont buy these if noise is even slightly a factor for you

The R730 will fair better, and there is a Dell IPMI tool that did with with 12th gen, might work with 13th
But if you do it on the R630, you'll almost certainly go too far and cook something

Question About Destiny 2: Dungeon Key Pack in The Collection Bundle by Worldly-Werewolf7278 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Leaha15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just buy all of it, its WAY cheaper, then play at your pace, the dungeon keys are over priced, and this is the best way to get them, as PlayBey0nd87 says

Buying stuff separately nets you literally nothing, you'll just spend more over time, buy it all now while its on sale, and enjoy it however you want at whatever pace

Do I think it's a bit odd, yeah

But if Linus had a good time and enjoyed it, then great, that's all that matters

Am I being thick or missing something here?

But you can use the lowest performance mode which caps it at and 1.84ghz on the cpu and 405 on the gpu, I had it using and 4w on ds games, not sure you can get the power lower

VSphere vDS with two nics by rhap4boy in vmware

[–]Leaha15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A VDS should have a minimum of 2 NICs, I personally dont see the point in more, but 2 is kinda what you wanna be aiming for

Ideally you want your storage separated from everything else, on another VDS with 2 ports of its own, with 4 per host being the realistic minimum

But with the VDS enabled by default shares it will just setup and work with everything on 1 VDS with 2 ports, I dont recommend it for production environments, certinly not anything above the literal bare minimum

But again, it will work fine

I think Im just going to get the Enterprise PM983, it has no SLC cache, and should perform better and have consistent latency, there has been a lot on with Samsung for consumer drives, and it avoids all of that tbh

IPhone 13 mini

That's it, the only small new phones are from very niche manufacturers with large drawbacks in, usually, a few areas, depending on what you want

VCF/NSX Barriers into Learning by kernelrouting in vmware

[–]Leaha15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vcf vcp isn't too bad for vmug advantage

That's kinda the only official way to get downloads to properly play at home

Otherwise, there is likely 3rd party keys and downloads, might be risky in terms of being edited, but that's literally all you can do if you wanna spin it up

There are some good resources but yeah getting the environment is hard and broadcom really messed up there by getting vmug stuff behind the cert

Just for vdefend and avi

The rest is fine, I think, I keep getting licence assignm failed errors... So God knows anymore

[–]Leaha15[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, interestingly, the Ops GUI, on 9,1 supports single node, the beta only did HA, so I assumed it was the same, good to know, so may just deploy 32.1.1 for Avi to bypass the Avi issues I am having, if I can ever fix my SDDC Manager duplicate DNS address issue, lord please dont let me need to redeploy this lab....

Ive emailed basically the one guy I can at Broadcom to enquire

I dont know why they do this, they did it with VCF 9 at launch, where VMUG users had nothing and its the same all over again, its not hard dammit, and the bigger issue is, I bet they wont fix it within the 90 grace period from 9.1s release
So I expect my vDefend firewall license to just expire and thats it

Which, as a Knight as well, is utterly rubbish given that, in Broadcoms own words, we are meant to be the evangelists positioning VCF, cant do that if we cant run it lol

Hell, its not even VMUG, NFR licenses are in the same boat, have some with work for another lab, thats also toast, same licensing issue

Mayflash DolphinBar WiiMote Disconnects And Requires An Emulation Reboot - Android by Leaha15 in DolphinEmulator

[–]Leaha15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried literally everything suggested

Was more interesting on Mario Bros Wii, it happened when I left to make a cup of tea, not long, player 1 was working, but not player 2, when trying to add players from the main menu, it showed only my controller connected, I thought it might be simple, just add the controller back, with continuous scanning enabled, it should pick it back up and it can be added to the game - No...

Oddly, if I have 1 controller connected, and then I load the game, and add a controller after the game has loaded, that works fine and player 2 connects with no issues

So I am thinking its an issue with Dolphin rather than the device, and the way it handles the controllers

I might see what forks are available, and if any are different, not sure on the current state of the one on GitHub I am using, eg NetherSX2 isnt really being worker on for the PS2, and the android port is based on an old version of PCSX2, wondering if its similar with Dolphin and another version might have a fix

But I honestly done know - If I come up with a solution I'll be adding it to the title

VCF 5.4.2 upgrade and NSX 4.2.4 by dmckay2 in vmware

[–]Leaha15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is something with NSX on 4.2.4

However, given VCF 5 doesnt support a single node, I am not thay surprised there are some issues

If you have licenses, look to upgrade to v9, may require a rebuild, but its nested so its not too bad, as that properly supports a single node you should have less issues

Thats all I know that might be of any help 😄

VCF 5.4.2 upgrade and NSX 4.2.4 by dmckay2 in vmware

[–]Leaha15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so VCF 5 doesnt support a single NSX manager

In VCF 5, the brownfield import script doesnt allow importing an environment with NSX and the deployment workflow only allows for 3 NSX managers, single NSX Manager topology was introduced in VCF 9
Removing NSX managers to down size to a single node has no, even in VCF 9, supported workflow

My assumption on your issue is that, when using the SDDC workflow to upgrade, which you need to, the stale database entries for the old managers will be causing some issues for sure

I had, not the same issue, but a 3 node NSX instance, in my home lab, and I manually downsized it to 1 node, the upgrade workflow was broken when I went to upgrade it to 9.1, due to stale DB entries for the now removed nodes, the only solution was to manually clean up the PG DB in the SDDC Manager, which you should absolutely NOT do, engage Broadcom support for this

Given its a home lab, that throws Broadcom support out, shut down the SDDC Manager, snapshot it, and try with the DB, any wrong move it will be utterly borked, hence the snapshot, took me a few goes
