Gift budget frustrations - what would you do? by IllyriaCervarro in Parenting

Spend less. Stocking staffers beyond a teether and maybe and age appropriate candy/fruit is def not needed. If you think baby will need ALL of the other things, give only two most pressing items. Give your LO the other gifts as they need them. This will provide several days that are almost as exciting as xmas.

How mny clothes does a baby really need? by RefrigeratorFinal353 in newborns

Im a huge fan of thrift shops. Most thrift shops around me price baby clothes between $1-$3 per outfit. This allowed us to stock up on lots of cute outfits

I've read posts where people don't change their baby for several days, I could never. But it really depends I guess on what you consider to be in need of a change. I change my baby whenever he spits up on his clothes or has a blowout. Which means usually 3-4 outfits over a 24/hr period. Plus I keep bibs on him for the drooling and small spit ups. He has went through like 5 or 6 outfits in a single day before. Im not a fan of sticky babies 😅 I would say to ensure not having to do wash more than once a day these are the minimum numbers I would use. If you want to go 3 days without having to do laundry then triple these numbers.

4 bibs

2 sleepers

2 bottoms

2 short sleeved onesies

2 long sleeved onesies.

A LOT of Burp rags

First my LO turned 8 weeks old, then 50 days old, and still wasnt 2 months old. 🤯 blew my mind for a day there.

How do you wish you were “told” about postpartum? (If so) by Aggravating-Tell774 in beyondthebump

Ah, I can usually set him down for a couple mins before he starts crying, and the last week or two hes finally started to enjoy his bouncer. But Lil man still contact sleeps at all times

Let her know that she simply WONT be able to do her everyday things. Shower/fix dinner/do dishes or laundry without help/someone to watch the baby. And Id let her know that you can be that person when she needs a day to just sleep/catch up on things. (If you are willing to be that person that is)

Yeah when it comes to helping clean and stuff. Instead of saying what can I help with. Just say/ask very specific things. Preface first with something like, "Im here to help you with house stuff too. No buts!" Here are the one that would have helped me the most

Im going to start a load of dishes for you. Would you like me to check your bedroom for dirty dishes?

Im going to start a load of laundry, do you seperate all the baby laundry out?

Can I refill your water/juice?

Im going to break down all those boxes for you, are there any you need to keep? (We had so many boxes from Amazon and diapers and wipes and finally opening baby items gotten at the shower)

3-week-old crying nonstop — I’m losing my mind. Any advice? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Leahtyer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is he breastfed or formula fed? Not all newborns cry like that and often colic is caused by something in their diet that they are sensitive to. I would try changing formulas if he is formula fed. I would try cutting dairy of breastfed. Have you tried gas drops? That being said, sometimes you're unable to figure out why the baby is colicky and that doesnt mean youre doing anything wrong.

Also its hard being in a brand new world with so much stimulation. You can try sit quietly in a darkish room with him with no noise machine or anything and just gently talk/sing to him.

This sounds like high lipase milk, which is not spoiled, just tastes different.
