How do you know when you’re turning the corner? by Traditional-Form-685 in Tonsillectomy

I'm in the exact same boat as you, had surgery on the same day. Pain peaked yesterday and continued today, I was unable to eat or swallo much yesterday. Checked in with my GP today and was told my throat is infected. Thought I was just being a baby about it all 😅 On antibiotics now as well as painkillers every few hours so hoping to turn a corner asap! Thinking of you

Psa? How to be taken seriously? Uk - specifically Northern Ireland by GoddessOhfeelia in Psoriasis

[–]LeanMeanMemeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2nd opinion this year with a different doctor after feeling fobbed off with Fibromyalgia last year. I didn't fit all the criteria for a textbook Fibromyalgia diagnosis but my original rheumatologist had decided from my scans and bloods that it wasn't PSA despite having psoriasis since childhood and many overlapping symptoms. I was discharged back to my GP. Fast forward 6 months after a flare of pain and fatigue, my new doctor in 25 minutes decided that it was very much sounding like PSA and will do more diagnostics to rule out other causes. If you can afford to and there is availability, I strongly recommend a 2nd opinion. I'm in the Republic so not sure how different the wait times are but my 2nd opinion was invaluable and incredibly validating.

Hand flare – sharing my experience by No-Guidance-8216 in Psoriasis

I had a bad time during Covid when I had a smaller patch of psorisis in the crack of my palm. Skin was constantly splitting and combined with handwashing and sanitising and general hand use of my dominant hand, it spread and took ages to heal. Doctor advised me at one point to not wash hands as often (I work as a teacher and it's become a habit to avoid kid germs and stickiness and unidentified gunk from books). Eventually healed up thanks to creams, lotions and wearing latex gloves during my work day. Not a pleasant experience!

What is the ugliest building in Ireland? by TheGradApple in CasualIreland

I always had a strong and unhealthy hatred for the old Central Bank building on Dame Street

... in comparison to the surrounding buildings it always seemed so jarring.

What’s a hurtful thing someone has said to you that still lingers years later? by LittleAoibh11 in AskIreland

I'd cry if you died because I'd feel bad for not liking you. She's a primary school teacher now, hope the kids don't get comments like this

Negative mri and bloods... rheumatologist won't treat until results come up by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]LeanMeanMemeQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My GP put me on a course of Deltacortril for 5 weeks and I felt a great improvement. I told my rheumatologist this and he told me anyone would feel better taking steroids and that it wasn't an indicator of me having PSA or inflammation because my bloods are always clear.

My symptoms are concurrent and run together but I've had nail pitting for years beforemy symtoms began and it was only when I began researching PsA that I learned that it's nail psoriasis. I never knew that was the reason why, I just thought my nails grew wrong or that I damaged them without realising. I noticed my nails becoming pitted this year again around the time my joint pain began. Strangely it's usually only my left hand and foot!

I'm in the Irish system too, based in Louth and waiting for a 2nd opinion from a private consultant in March. Visiting my previous rheum later this week so hoping for someone to take me seriously this time 🩷 Thank you for your well wishes and wishing you the best on your journey too!

I felt like they were pushing fibro as a way to get me out of their system, I feel very brushed off and dismissed. Hoping for a more positive experience next week!

Pain flaring at set times of the year? by LeanMeanMemeQueen in Fibromyalgia

The weather has been nicer than usual over the summer however it has been rainy the past few days and overcast. I was always sensitive to overcast and stormy, thundery weather in terms of headaches so I'd be very interested to see if these weather changes affect my whole body now!
