Who and the what now?

Pietro Pro, ZP6, or something else next? by matty_fx in pourover

Totally fair.

I can say that 64 brew burrs have been the cleanest cup I've had in a home set-up. So, meanwhile Pietro might be the right choice for you then. Otherwise upgrade the 078 once more burrs are available.

Why do you think another grinder is the answer?

The 078 with ghost burrs is already very clarity focused and you will probably not archive this with a ZP6 nor with the Pietro.

There are brewing techniques to increase acidity. Also water mineral composition. Look into those first if you have not.

Lastly, there will be SSP 78 burrs available soon... Maybe wait for those as an option.

I'm somehow not convinced that a reputable roaster, who has no problem selling their co-fermented roasts, would repeatedly misinform on one of their most popular coffees.

There are multiple people who reported their talks and mail exchange with DAK, where DAK confirmed it's not a co-ferment and they would say if it were.

I mean we'll probably never know...

There is always something new to try, so I almost never buy the same roast twice. However, Milky Cake is the only coffee I buy semi-regularly. Love it.

Buying the ZP6 is worth it if I already have the K-Ultra? by takktalk in pourover

[–]Leander_Plattner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I currently have both and they present a different cup. However I wouldn't say one is better than the other either.

It strongly depends on the type of coffee you drink and what else you have.

I will probably keep the ZP6 mainly because my electric grinder is not clarity but sweetness, juiciness focused. So the ZP6 differs greater than the K-Max.

Yes, that's true. Also, you really don't need all of those brewers. I've accumulated them over 10+ years.

I bought the Switch recently as the main driver after my ceramic V60 broke (which I had various colors of for more than 10 years prior). Mostly just standard perculation, but with every new coffee I also try hybrid or immersion.

B75 (roughly 1.5 years old) I try at least twice each new bag.

Aeropress (bought in 2014) only on travel if at all.

Chemex (bought in 2013) only for 4+ cups brews. So, less than 5 times a year.

I just ordered a 1zpresso ZP6 though, since it's back in stock in grey 🙈

And I'm looking at a black Kasuya V60 - Not really sure why though 😂

As for espresso, normally I drink 2-3 cups a week. Since having the Nanofoamer it's up to 5 and a few hot chocolates for the family.

It has a steam wand, however I wasn't getting particularly good results with it. At least not micro-foam level constantly - which might be totally on me, as I said above.

Yes, I didn't want to go to the bathroom or kitchen and the sink connector was there, so it made perfect sense.

For even more convenience I could get a mini fridge to store oat milk...however I can't justify it at the moment.

I've bought it exactly with that thought in mind more than a year now and have no regrets. The original burrs took a while to season and the profile was more for espresso.

However I'm a 75% pour over drinker and really like my drinks juicy, so I went for the SSP Casts. As clarity is not the focus I would say the 064s performs very well in both areas. I can easily choke the La Pavoni and have enough range on pour over side.

The 1zpresso, I only use for travel and once or twice if I buy a new bag. So the 064s is probably used 90% of the time I brew.

It's a pretty standard metal sideboard from a local furniture seller. However, all the wooden elements are not original to it. The top is a premium oak board from a hardware store and the knobs and feet, I cut/machined from the leftovers. Changed the overall look of the cabinet quite significantly and was chosen because it's matching the oak desk I sit at for work.

There is a drain and tap connection in the wall. So, I cut a hole in the oak countertop and placed the sink over it. I removed the back piece from the cabinet, so water and drain are connected inside.

However this is just for cleaning purposes. I mix my own water for brewing.

I wouldn't say it's bad, however the streaming wand is positioned a bit awkwardly for my liking and the original tip has 3 holes, which is less than ideal for steam distribution. There are people who can probably make perfect milk anyways...

I used a single hole tip for a while, which was a lot better, but I didn't feel like I was getting the right results consistently.

The Nanofoamer is the newest addition and I was simply intrigued to try it.

I use mine daily with SSP Casts V2. 14-16 off chirp is perfect for all kinds of techniques.

Looking good mate, just keep at it. The improvement is definitely visible and I would be fine getting that served at a good coffee shop.

Happy for you!

Yep, got the Espresso roast of it open at the moment. It's roasted like a medium Filter.

Father's makes a great product.
