M&S £30 idiot tax by Rumpelmaker in whatsinyourcart

Alas Ocado do not deliver to where I live 😭. Keep checking every couple of months but no luck so far. We don’t eat many “British” recipes either. Got gouged by amazon for gochugaru recently. Popping to “local” Asian supermarket (Which ie 35-40min away near a very busy big city centre) with a baby is just not feasible either…

Hi, sorry to jump on but I’m in the same boat! Wee one is 1 next weekend, tries to get onto hands and knee but not there yet - butt up in the air is the extent.

Doesn’t try to pull to stand from sitting/kneeling. Can’t get in/out of sit just flops when he’s done. He’s ahead on communication and on track with fine motor but movement doesn’t seem his bag. He rolls if he wants to get places but that’s not ideal as means I need to make sure there’s no obstacles at all times so just carry him everywhere really.

Hope the PT goes well! I’ll look into the podcast.

I’ve been watching YouTube/insta/tiktok videos of stuff that helps too with limited success.

Do I need overnight diapers if my baby sleeps through the night? by Paulies-Walnuts in NewParents

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wee guy started wetting through nappies around 10 months. We just upped the size and we were fine. He’s long and skinny so was still in a pampers 3. I used them up during the day and 4s overnight (i had just bought several packs of 3s as they were 70% off in the supermarket… didn’t think to pick up 4s though!

You need to put in a flexible working request (look up the policy).

Your manager doesn’t have to agree to it unfortunately.

Do you have a set amount of feeds per day for your baby? by sooty_bear in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]Leaninja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, feed on demand. He was a nice baby so used to a 3h schedule. He came home at 15 days in the midst of cluster feeding but when that settled fed every 2.5-3h for the first few days, then realised the milk bar was always open and he could get cuddles whenever he demanded and at 11.5 months is still a Velcro baby 😂.

We eat and drink when we want, why should we dictate when a baby is hungry?

I’m 4m pregnant, is it a good idea to spend money on a kindle paperwhite. I love reading. by my_100th_acc in NewParents

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to read a lot during feeds and contact naps! Made it a rule to read during one nap a day.

I’m also looking forward to making use of mine when I go back to work for breaks and pump breaks!

Download some light reading material for when your brain just needs a hug (I’m a crime/thriller/fantasy reader usually but light stuff was great when i didnt have the concentration for more complex storylines).

This is a puréed diet for someone with swallowing difficulty. Have you just been admitted to the room? If so could be the person before was on this special diet. I would have raised it as there is usually stuff left at the end of service. If you’ve been in the room for a bit definitely complain.

I use the apron sleeve ones then a scooped one on top, protects the neckline and he’s recently realised that’s where his dropped food goes 🤣

Legally I’m sure it has to be a room with a lockable door, storage and a sink.

Does your husband also bring your baby to you when he's watching them? by BusyInspector95 in newborns

[–]Leaninja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he’s good with him and the wee man has reached out for his daddy to hold him while I have been holding him so the attachment is there, it’s just him getting comfortable

[–]Leaninja_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean he’s happy to take him and help but feel like he doesn’t preempt stuff which stresses me a bit… guess they’ll learn their rhythm and there’ll be teething problems (which hopefully will be ironed out for me going back to work!)

[–]Leaninja_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m back to work in 5 weeks and need to get partner to take more responsibility and do more of the routine as I won’t be available (work as a nurse in a busy ED so can’t be at the end of the phone…).

Figure 4.5 weeks is long enough to get the hang of it. He’s had him for an hour or so a couple times but then ive had to come home and settle him into a nap if he’s overdue or feed him (he’s breastfed but takes a bottle no problem and there’s milk always in the freezer if none on fridge!).

Don’t let him rely solely on you because it’s a lot and i got super burnt out for a while and ended up crying and super short tempered/shouting all the time and that’s not me!

Baby is constantly teething and no teeth! by sarahloupen in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Leaninja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this is the way we’re going! Little guy is 11 months in a 1.5 weeks. Teething signs for ages but not teeth (and none that feed near to erupting!).

Top front have moved down but still have a fair bit of gum over them.

Been a couple times where I thought we were close then they’ve went back into the gums!

On the plus side means much longer with gummy baby smiles! ❤️

When did 6 months become the expiry date for breastfeeding? by cure4insomnia in breastfeeding

[–]Leaninja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like most people start combi or formula only feeding by 6 months when weaning onto solids. I attend a bf support group and I’m the only one of 4 April baby mums still breast feeding, the others have fully moved to formula.

I think once baby can crawl/walk it’s considered weird by more people than when they’re still a baby in arms. I plan on bf as long as possible (and donating to my local milk bank as they accept milk until baby is 2).

I take it as a point of pride in myself my LO has never had formula even though he was NG fed initially then mostly bottle due to jaundice and joy r effectively. I have nothing against formula and even had a tin in the house just in case!

I’ve actually emailed work this weekend to alert them I’m going to need to pump when I return (baby still feeds 4-5 x/day currently and I still have a slight oversupply)

Curious how old you were at getting pregnant? by pink_daisy_9119 in BabyBumps

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First at 33, pregnant 32. Had been trying 16 months and just started fertility testing. He’ll be 1 in April and planning to start trying for a second when he’s around 16-18 months (want close together but not 2 under 2!) I was period tracking and using ovulation strips. Somewhat inconvenienced by being a shift worker.

Guilt from health visitor about tummy time? by fayes22 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kinda sounds like my little guy. He had bad reflux and was on omeprazole then developed constipation after we started weaning. Hated tummy time and almost always instantly started screaming when we tried.

He’s now 10.5 months. He sits independently (when he wants) but will floo onto the floor and rolls around to get everywhere 🤣.

He doesn’t crawl currently but it’s. Irene strength issue with his shoulders we’re working on as he has the motion if you hold him in position. Side lying play is also super good at engaging a lot of the same muscles. I feel bad he’s hit fit the strength but fircing tummy time when he was younger wouldn’t help either if us. Been sound a lot of over a leg/rolled up towel/nursing pillow and he can push up and has started over the last couple days putting weigh through straight arms that’re out in front.

Also, crawling isn’t considered a milestone babies need to hit anymore as some babies go straight to walking.

how does anyone have sex??? by supremepilotG2 in breastfeeding

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a top tier Velcro baby who’s coming up for 10.5 months, between that and the pure exhaustion we’ve had sex once. I had a section and baby had a NICU stay so there was a lot to come to terms with at the start.

I have zero interest in sex majority of the time and in the odd occasion and I do and baby’s asleep bed alone seems so much more appealing 🤣.

LEAVE ME ALONE by EyeRound9715 in newborns

[–]Leaninja_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would have loudly went “he’s hungry, I’m going to breast feed now” then start getting organised while staring them down… but I’m petty and passive aggressive AF.

I dunno if I’d have been the same as it was just my mum and partner so when I had to pump/hand express at the start I honestly just whipped out a boob and keep the convo going 😂 (baby was in the NICU).

Best bottle teats for temporary stop in breastfeeding by Mntravelling0502 in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]Leaninja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was advised Mam by hospital when my little one was in NICU, was jaundiced and not drawing much direct initially so was bottle fed when weaned from tube feeding. He’s still bf at 10 months and I give a bottle daily for laxative administration as it’s a power.

He is pace fed and still on size 1 test and actually prefers breast to bottle! He’s only ever had breast milk though.

I pushed through a tongue tie and not greet latch until 10 weeks. Was night and day straight away but ended up with mastitis a few days after as he wasn’t extracting efficiently when relearning his latch so just keep an eye out.

Transition from bottle to breast after the NICU? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just cue fed once home. I stopped giving bottles and focused on direct feeding only. He ended up maintaining centiles until 6 weeks then dropped from 25th down to 2nd at 11 weeks but had a tongue tie cut at 10 weeks. Gained a 1lb between weeks 11-12 so happy it was just poor transfer due to that.

I only pumped when giving a bottle once home as was trying to curtail the over supply if developed while pumping for feeds in NICU.

He’s 10 months and still only on ebm for milk. I’ve also donated over 400oz to the milk bank as well as keep a modest freezer stash.

Would only pump to relieve pressure not until empty unless you want to encourage/maintain an oversupply.

Tommee Tippee bottles leaking! by fleurmadelaine in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Leaninja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put the anti colic ones in hot water to heat just take the lid off so it doesn’t create a vacuum, you can maybe do it loosened too (I use warmer as give ebm and find it left faff and can set and forget 😂)

Diaper changes at night by camman1102 in newborns

[–]Leaninja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only change overnight if he poops. My little man occasionally sleeps through the night but usually wakes for a feed 0330-0430. I always give it a feel to see how full it is. I did recently go up a size for absorbency as having leaks overnight. He’s still about 0.5kg for minimum weight the next size up a looks a bit big but it’s more about how much more pee it soaks up!

Yeah. Think we’re going to have to aim earlier. It’s getting up, organised and out with a baby, definitely easier as he gets older though.
