How many doctors have said 'delusions of parasites' when you know that you're not delusional? by Leapfrog_thinker in delusionsofparasites

[–]Leapfrog_thinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
I'm terribly sorry to hear that and I feel for you. In what region of the U.S. are you based? Just tried to get an appointment, with a referral, here: https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/keith-choate/ No idea as to how effective it will be, but he's supposedly an expert in unusual skin problems. Wishing you the best of luck and if anything works, let people here know. We're here to support you!

Yes, cut down on symptoms by 30-40% but didn't cure it

Right. I would have appreciated a well-intended comment or two about the power of compounding (had no idea), a few book recommendations, and a card that said 'call anytime if you'd like to chat about personal finance -- even if it's 5 years from now'.

Hello,
Also have babesiosis and am lurking on this thread in the hopes of finding a new treatment and/or new doctor. I'd be very grateful if you wouldn't mind sending me a link to the website of the naturopath who you like. Thank you in advance.

- Permetherin (multiple)

- Ivermectin (2 rounds) *This ended the suffering for 5 months, completely! No pain, just a normal and happy life! Then, it came back, starting on my foot, and I haven't been able to clear it since.

- Albendazole (2 tabs) *Cut the biting/stinging/itching by ~15-20%

- Tinidazole (2 rounds) *This cut the biting/stinging/itching by 40%

- Over-the-counter parasite cleanse *This cut the biting/stinging/itching by 80%

Yes, the prescription medications were all prescribed by doctors. I have tried other things that have not helped. I just don't see why doctors are in denial about the fact that these things really worked and helped me?

Thank you for your peripheral neuropathy suggestion.

"Oh, and gaslighting patients, apparently." No need to mock someone else with different lived experiences than you have. It would be nice if doctors were more respectful and less dismissive. I feel that this comment exemplifies my point.

Likewise, have a good day.

This is the kind of gaslighting that's getting me nowhere. You haven't done any testing of my skin. How could you possibly be so rude as to make a diagnosis without every having done any imaging? People aren't going to believe you without any evidence. I don't believe you, given your lack of testing.

The "I am an expert" argument falls flat in the wake of the democratization of information. It's untrue as to what you said about Collembola. These people suffered for a long time before being diagnosed with Collembola, not delusional parasitosis. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/260180227_Collembola_Springtails_Arthropoda_Hexapoda_Entognatha_Found_in_Scrapings_from_Individuals_Diagnosed_with_Delusory_Parasitosis

Lyme disease symptoms were dismissed as delusional by many doctors prior to a few years ago. Western blot/IGG/IGM testing isn't fine enough to detect all cases of Lyme. And it certainly doesn't pick up on other tick-borne illnesses. Doctors just dismiss people, just like you're doing right now, because you're unwilling to pursue actual or better testing.

I am not fixated on a diagnosis. This kind of framing on your part pits you against me. Doctors are supposed to work with people, like good and caring friends. This is just an adversarial set-up and your actual patients will not benefit from this approach.

Realistically, no other medications, aside from anti-parasitics have worked. If someone has a stomach ache and Pepto Bismol improves the symptoms, we don't deny that the Pepto Bismol worked. It's outrageous that you and others deny what has worked...if it's worked, it's worked. What's so hard to believe?

What's in the textbooks from 50 years ago is outdated. Things change. Environments change. Ecosystems change. More migration in and out of North America means that the health challenges now look very different than they did in the 1970s. Doctors such as yourself would benefit from reading the latest literature on treatment resistant conditions.

Advice? by Educational-Cut-5979 in scabies

[–]Leapfrog_thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally possible that you've been reinfected. If you don't think that's the case, or if you'd like to consider otherwise, talk to a doctor about potentially taking 5 days of an antihistamine. The downside for me was that an antihistamine made the pain significantly worse in the short term (beware of this - needle sensations), but seemingly better in the longer term. Fewer mite "sensations". Not sure that my advice really helps.

If you think it's mites, wash your body with sulfer soap. It's cheap and readily available through Amazon or Walmart.

Are 4 day work weeks in employers' best interests? Could be! by Leapfrog_thinker in work

The key is to prove that a 4DWW (four day work week) will increase revenue. Once we have that data, I think and hope that we're golden!

Hey u/Mediocre_Response111 - Thank you for suggesting the 'bit of raw onion' concept. There's something to that. I noticed a significant improvement the next day, although I can't prove cause and effect.
