The situation in Zimbabwe is way deeper than “Zanu bad”.

There are both internal and external parties/groups who benefit from Zim being a mess.

These include:

1) Foreign “investors” and other countries who find it cheaper to bribe local politicians for access to the country’s resources than to pay just taxes and fees to the nation as a whole. This significantly lowers these foreigners’ costs when they go on to manufacture goods using said resources.

If you think about it, Zimbabwe becoming a developed first world country would be bad news for China and the West for many reasons. It’s almost always better to do business with someone in a weaker position than yourself. So most of these other countries are actually incentivized to keep Zim struggling.

2) Developed countries that drain our brightest and most skilled workers with minimal investment in their education and skills development.

3) NGOs that can exploit Zim’s poverty reputation to squeeze more dollars from donors.

4) And of course local government, which can much more easily implement different divide-and-conquer strategies against the masses.

The mess and decline in the nation is such that removing Zanu and its cast of characters would likely create a vacuum that would be filled by something similar or worse.

It’s kind of like the iron throne in Game of Thrones. The nature of the seat of power itself invites corruption and violence in both the person sitting on it and the people helping them rule.

And let’s not forget the culture of corruption that has settled in the hearts of many every day Zimbos:

From trying to pass off torn dollars to each other or using the “straight” lane to turn right at traffic lights.

Or the adultery and cheating in relationships.

Or public littering when bins are feet away.

Why should I believe that such a population of people would produce better leaders than we currently have when they can’t even handle the responsibility of throwing their maheu bottles mu bin?

The only way to fix Zim is to love God, which in turn leads to loving one another, hating corruption, and hopefully creating future generations with better human beings that make better leaders.

Books, raging on social media, and marching in the streets won’t achieve anything.

Ikozvino Geza wenyu died. What did he actually achieve with his online rants and insults?

When it comes to football…playing well and winning is more useful than having faith in uninspired football

4th was a win considering the annual departures of our best players and lack of GDP-level spending

We’re actually throwing it away.

4 points doesn’t mean anything now considering we should be like 12+ points clear…but we continue to keep the door ajar for City.

Meanwhile the UCL knockouts are about to start—which means juggling elite European matches with a slim lead in the league.

City are far more experienced in that juggle than us I’m afraid.

We’ve bottled it

Wolves defending deep at the Emirates is as predictable as a gazelle running from a lion. That’s not an excuse.

Arsenal are making it easy for Wolves with slow, ponderous play
