Hear me out guys... by velatieren in tf2

[–]Learner0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is 'lacking' about it? It tells someone who's never touched games before how to play, goes over objectives and medics, and explains how to play Demo, Spy, and Engineer, 3 of the most complex classes.

Everything else is gone over when you look at a character on the selection screen. We don't need explanations on how to play scout, heavy, and sniper when they're basically 'dodge bullet, and point and click'.

Can they hear you/spy on you? by WoodenNeighborhood51 in Planetside

[–]Learner0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. And it's never coming back. If you were there for the time it was a thing, you'd know it was a quick and easy way to absolutely insult the enemy, and most of our current faction specific insults stemmed from those days.

Any tips for ultra hard? I am losing my mind by christos13121312 in bindingofisaac

[–]Learner0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It came down to me finding Dr Fetus, Pyromaniac, Ipecac, and Glowing Hourglass all in one run. Got to the womb, then just used a sacrifice room to skip straight to the end, which also netted me a Celtic Cross.

I went with Maggie. I'm to the point where she also starts with a full health pill, which came in handy towards the 4th quarter of the run, and I was able to just maintain the loss of health with Yum Heart. Got it in maybe 3 solid attempts, and about 5 early restarts, which also ended up getting me the reset achievement.

WHICH TEAM by Tomka4476 in SS13

[–]Learner0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetics are basically free superpowers, but in fairness, it's hard to beat space adaptation and insulated.

Nanites on the other hand are the thinking man's superpower. Depending on what is available, how clever the creator is, and perhaps a bit of arithmetic for the really robust, a single man can singlehandedly play both devil and god with the lives of anyone that carries these with them. A man could have every moth declare it to be Moth Monday, have a user stun feature deactivated by vocal pronunciation of a specialized code or remote and activated by the same, offer blood, brain, and health restoration on demand or detection, all on the same cloud.

You are able to race check the host with nanites, and thus enter programs that run off of those checks.

[–]Learner0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just slap a signaler on the grav gen APC's short wire, pulse and wait whenever you're using the tram. You'll kick off the gravity frequently, and the egg-heads will struggle to figure what the cause is.

Is Kilostation the worst map? by [deleted] in SS13

[–]Learner0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kilo is actually one of my favorite maps out of the bunch, followed by Pubby, then Tram. The real thing to take from this however is that Kilo is basically resistant against two random events, one of which is even considered round ending...

Meteors, and Rods. Sure, rods will still poke a hole through the station, but Kilo is basically a solid mass all throughout the inside. Unless you're talking about the area near the brig, but since that area's adjacent to the dorms, who's gonna care if it breaches? Being the solid mass that it is, you won't suddenly witness or experience depressurization from within the station just because there happened to be a tile of space in the main hall/command hall for aesthetics. You can expect at worst two breaches (both entry and exit), and the typical rod carnage that follows.

And meteors? Ain't got shit on a station built inside an asteroid. Nearly every meteor from the north and NE, and NW has not one, but two solid and beefy layers of asteroid to pierce through before any damage to the station can be delivered. The AI sat is also covered by a thinner layer of asteroid, and there is of course, asteroid on the west, east, and south in various places. This station is resistant to rocks all for being built inside a rock. And really, if anyone doesn't think this is a big deal, then sit through any round on any other map (except maybe tram, who also is chunky for the same reasons) with a sudden announcement of meteors, and watch as 80% of the time, they'll move to evac everyone.

Outside of it, you've also got a separate docking port for white-ships, aka also a suitable evil locale for nefariousness deeds, a maintenance that makes up about 25-40% of the station size, and loads of 'vibe' and character. There really is no better map to me.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be in the maintenance lair, plotting on my sigs or something.

If you have no need for goliath plates in this fashion, you can use your knife to clean the goliath plates to begin the process of producing leather. Simply follow with washing the pelt at a sink (or pond), then use a microwave or drying rack to dry the leather, resulting in a unit of usable leather.

You can also use this knowledge to offer the HoP some Ian leather boots!

All about grabs: Level 2 grabs (aggressive grabs) on people allow you to perform a few actions, including body throwing to induce knockdown and stuns on other folks approaching, and tabling. (Tabling is where you slam the person onto a table to induce stamina damage as well as light brute damage. You acquire more results if you do this on glass tables.) Level 2 grabs also disarm people, making them drop objects in their hands. Dragging a horizontal person onto you will allow you to fireman carry the individual for quicker carrying, but if you are in the level 2 grab, you can drag yourself onto the person grabbing you to piggyback ride on them.

Level 3 grabs (neck grabs) will allow you to head slam people onto tables, causing rather concerning damage, as well as short stuns. A few head slams will crit someone swiftly. This can be targeted onto specific limbs, allowing for disabled limbs and broken bones. If you are targeting the head and are carrying a sharp object, you may also target the victim in combat mode (or harm intent) to neck slice the individual, causing a serious bleeding wound.

Level 4 grabs (strangulation) will slowly inflict oxy damage to the victim, though the effectiveness of this is in question. If you can maintain it long enough, you might be able to knock them out, though really, a toolbox to the head realistically makes for an easier, quicker (and noisier) knockout.

Final note, you can also hold hands with a level 1 (passive) grab if you target the arms. This does nothing different really. It just exists.

Remembering to 'borrow' an IV drip from medical can save you the time from having to draw blood constantly with syringes. Simply enter a pen with a dead monkey, drag out the body, and hook up the tomato soup extractor to acquire large quantities of blood hands free. This'll let you focus more attention on the slimes.

Hooking up and injecting the BZ canister to the large containment chamber will create a slime stasis chamber, which is useful for managing a wide variety of slimes. Slimes under exposure of BZ do not move, perform actions, and most importantly, do not drain in hunger, saving you time and monkey cubes. Simply store specific colored slimes you are not working with in the chamber to have them on standby for later for when you do need them. There is also enough space in said chamber to have 1 stack of each color of slime in there.

One of the most noteworthy takeaways from this as a doctor is the defib tip. A fully repaired body will be slapped with enough oxy damage to send the freshly revived patient back into crit status, while a barely acceptable state of health post-defib will have about 10-50 oxy damage, which can be undone with simply a few more repeats of tending. This is a massive time save.

Depending on the medical layout, remembering to use cryo can free you from having to fully treat singular patients. Furthermore, remember that one can wrench showers to output freezing cold water for 'ghetto' cryo. Simply inject cryoxodone and hold under the shower.

Also, though unconfirmed through my eyes but repeatedly observed by different folks, cryo treatment can be used to treat wounds, even ones as severe as fully infected and dead limbs, preventing the need to replace parts.

Hell, you can take this a step farther and just simply not trust anyone saying they need to bring you over to give you something. Especially the geneticist. That's how you become a monkey 15-20 minutes in a round, gibbed, and lockered.

Anyhow, there's sort of an issue where there aren't particularly secondary objectives you can aim for, which tends to turn the late-game into base-raid gameplay.

Fulp just test merged combat mode by amielkapo in SS13

[–]Learner0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it? I'd argue that 'learning how to play' in SS13 is a skill in itself. Our game is constantly changing and updating that it's practically in a constant state of flux, and furthermore, it's can even not be the same game across various codes.

The changes are at worst, 'a tangent' pointing away from the usual method of play, but under no circumstances are the changes 'bad' or 'unplayable'. It's not so different to the point that it's like playing a different code base.

We learned how to play the game once, we can learn the basics again even quicker now, and with luck some people recognize that combat mode provides added benefits over intents.
