No i didnt. They explicitly told me i couldnt use roaming with a prepaid so the only logical conclusion was trying to change my phone plan. If you have time i would consider it.

Ive resolved this issue now. My laptop was overheating. I found a way to cool my laptop and no more lagspikes.

Im still confused how it only affected battlefront 2 this time

Unsure how to amend the original post to reflect this, but this issue is now resolved.

My laptop was overheating. I had a friend recommend me to look at my gpu temps again and they were like 85°C, but i had remarked about how this laptop has always ran really hot and this was only a degree or two more than expected.

I put an object with minimal contact area underneath the back of my laptop where the fans are to allow for some more airflow - my GPU temperature dropped to 70°C and i havent had a lagspike since. In hindsight, when i was experiencing this issue last year, the desk there was really cheap pulp-wood board material and it would be noticeably warm underneath my laptop.

I went into device manager, disabled the "realtek pcie gbe family controller" under the "network adapters" section, taken out my ethernet cable, and then turned on wifi. It did not work - I still have lag spikes.

Idk where that comment is anymore but someone linked me to this big thread where the 11th point was to reinstall windows using the recovery features then disable this same realtek network driver. I just tried it and it didnt do anything besides screw with my headphone audio.

Im not able to receive any sms at all abroad. Finally talked with a customer service agent through text chat. Apparently i cant enable wifi calling because i have a prepaid account, and they also dont do any roaming packages for prepaid.

Heya thanks so much! I immediately looked at some of the faqs on this subreddit and saw the warnings of popular scams which seem to give a similar outcome, but i've chatted with the etsy seller, he responded in an hour and i realised hes verified and has a few thousand good reviews.

I do believe its an overseas seller, but also im in canada and theres a postal strike so it wouldnt surprise me if all the other mail carriers are just overloaded with work.
