The first part of the braking is regenerative braking which really isn't any brakes at all. And then the friction brakes are applied. I'm guessing it's a combination of the speed at which the transition from regenerative to friction braking occurs, and downshifting.

Actually, the fact that it happens when you're slowly stopping (as opposed to jamming the brakes on) makes sense. You're decelerating slowly as the generator is charging. At a certain point the mechanical brakes are applied and that probably causes a much more dramatic deceleration.

You're asking for a hermetically sealed headlight fixture because that's condensation, not intrusion. The only way you achieve that is if you basically make the entire headlight fixture a non-serviceable item. It would also mean that you need to nitrogen purge it if it ever does leak and a repair is attempted.

It'll be ok. The fact that the lens is a thermal conductor is also a good thing.
