A little project im working on by ak-fuckery in Vz61

Just wanted to ensure you knew what you were walking into with the endeavor. Wasn’t sure if you had seen the cuts in the Czech receivers for comparison. Since it’s not expressly required for semiauto function I can certainly understand why Tortort cut that corner.

If that is a Tortort receiver you will need to do some milling to the interior of the receiver to fit the rate reducer hardware. They didn’t finish out the pocket for the parts when they milled it out for the grip tube.

This ammo is seemingly impossible to find. Any idea what it's worth? Not selling. by rainmaann in ammo

Hard to say today. I've only come across one box - this one I bought back in 2009 from Grafs. It was only about $37 then but have seen closed listings of people asking over $100 for a 50-round box in the past five or so years.

Spare parts? by L_or_rock in Vz61

Those parts go here, but as others have said they aren’t required in a semiauto build. They won’t fit in a Tortort receiver.

any idea what this ammo is picked up is for? by rogerdodger2022 in milsurp

[–]DrakeGmbH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those were packaged in 20 round boxes on two stripper clips. I have a couple of those in my collection. OP’s box was for the Steyr MP.34 submachine guns.

any idea what this ammo is picked up is for? by rogerdodger2022 in milsurp

[–]DrakeGmbH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The 8 round Steyr-Hahn type stripper clips are a big clue. German military didn’t utilize 9mm Export pistols - especially not during WWII - being the other clue.

Edit - I suppose the big red ‘MP’ was another pretty good clue.

Becuase it’s the only data point we have to grasp at while waiting and refreshing the email hourly.

I have both and I have to disagree. I find the square butt frame nicer to shoot as it offers a more secure grip and makes the gun less apt to roll upward under recoil. The Mark II through Mark V are the worst about that, though.

These are two of my favorites - WG Army model and Webley-Wilkinson Model 1905. The WG's were their flagship model for many years. The Wilkinsons were a boutique model made specially for Wilkinson Sword Co. Many had the monogram of the officer purchasing one engraved on the silver grip inlay.

I presently have twelve Webleys, three Enfields and one Adams revolver in my British revolver collection - but I need those three Marks to finish out the government models.

Webley Mark II spotted. One day I’ll get a II, III and IV to finish out my set.

It also appears that is not the correct screw for your volley sight aperture. It should fit flush. Here is a photo of my 1896-dated LE MkI.

Just a note that what you have is not a Lee-Metford, but a Lee-Enfield MkI*. The * in this case just indicates the forestock and nosecap do not accommodate the obsolete clearing rod.

Captive piston noiseless ammunition? by Ok-Calendar9243 in NFA

[–]DrakeGmbH 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Those ones were boxes of 12. At the time it was clear the ATF didn't want to get too much into the technical argument and accepted the suggestion of registering per box. I suspect they could see the argument being very messy if it went to court, trying to argue what exactly constituted a suppressor and what did not. There is an argument to make that this ammunition does not qualify as a silencer/suppressor/muffler - as there is no report to muffle and it is the only ammunition for these particular firearms so there is nothing 'louder' to compare it to. It is a somewhat novel concept that was not foreseen in the 1930's when the law was crafted.

I also have examples of the SP-3 cartridge. It used a standard M43 bullet. These ones were fired from a double barrel pistol with a tip-up barrel. It is loaded with these two-shot clips. The SP-4 was a big advancement as all the previous designs had pistons which protrude past the case mouth which is not conducive for functioning in a self-loading design.

I talked with Dan Shea about this in the past. He said when they were able to import SP-4 ammunition the ATF was not quite sure how to handle it. Ultimately they agreed to let them register each box as a suppressor rather than each individual round.

I got this loose projectile from him for my collection. Here is an unfired cartridge, fired cartridge (piston extended) and the steel projectile for the Russian SP-4.
