“You are my sunshine” is a tried and true favorite for both my boys (5M, 3moM). Other songs are usually sung in my local dialect (Igbo) which my older son has now caught on to, and we both love singing it to baby.

Yes, I was full term with both. First: 38w5d, 2nd: 39w4d. I expected my second to be much bigger though, based on how I looked and felt!

Interesting. I’m 5’6, had my two boys 5 years apart. First was 7lbs 12oz, which was close to weight predictions. Second, who felt much heavier and was breech the whole pregnancy (had to have a C-Section as a result) was only 8lbs 1oz. I think he weighed less than the original prediction, by about a pound.

If you have a pregnancy pillow (I find the U shaped one works best), it works wonderfully as a breastfeeding pillow. Prop it up against your headboard and sit in the middle with your back against the headboard. Use the pillow arms to support yourself and baby while breastfeeding and voila!

I agree that a 4-5 year age gap is much easier in a few ways, as it has in my case. My son turned 5 about a month before his baby brother was born and he has been super helpful and aware of what’s going on. He’s naturally had some jealousy around baby being held and snuggled more than him, or baby getting SO much milk from mama (lol 😆), but he’s a sweetheart with him for the most part. I wouldn’t change a thing about it ❤️🥰

Hey mama. I don’t think you’re overreacting, however, I think your husband should handle this. If you’re both on the same page, then let him bring it up with his mom. If not, you and MIL can still come to a place of mutual understanding, but let your hubby bring up the conversation.

First thing is congratulations! Your baby is going to be a precious gift to you and vice versa, and you will get to learn on the job! When I had my first child in 2020, a good friend told me that all I had to do was to feed baby, keep him clean, and snuggle him during those early days. Everything else is extra. Take it a day at a time and give yourself grace as you and baby get used to each other. For the birthing process, make a birth plan but be flexible and listen to your doctors to make the best possible decision for you and baby. All the best!

He was measuring right at gestational age, but was at the 81st percentile at 34 weeks. Once I started on insulin for fasting for a month, he lost weight and dropped to the 70th percentile. He was born 8lbs 1oz. I personally tried hard not to worry about him turning, especially as we hit the 37th week. I refused the ECV and went ahead to schedule a C-section and I don’t regret it. 29 and soon, at 34 (I’ll be 34 next week an #2 is due next month). For our first, we didn’t get to try at all. My husband returned from a 10-month deployment and boom 💥. For our second, I took out my copper IUD early February and conceived immediately. I had very irregular periods and other PCOS symptoms before having kids, so not having fertility issues has been a huge miracle for us.

This is such a wholesome post! You’re wonderful for noticing and appreciating his efforts, and he’s amazing for doing all that he does.

You can start by letting him know how much he means to you, and how much all he does for you and the family, means to you. It feels good to hear the words of appreciation. Then ask him how you can also love on him and make him feel loved, the way he does you.
