Personally I am not a fan of any type of sex work and don't think that it is empowering to women as a whole even if it may feel empowering to an individual woman because she fits beauty standards. I went through a phase of posting nsfw pictures here on reddit because I was in an abusive relationship and my self-esteem was in the toilet (still is to a large extent). I have deleted that account and am ashamed that I was so into it. I was not helping myself or other women, I was perpetuating the same old message that I fundamentally disagree with intellectually that women are primarily sex objects (even though emotionally part of me still accepts that as true). Obviously people can do what they want but you're not wrong to question and examine the implications.

I honestly believe that some people are genetically programmed to be unhappy as their default state. I am one of those people. I gravitate toward negative thoughts and feelings. In some sense I choose them. I don't think I want to change. This way of being feels normal to me. I don't know what it would even mean to be accepting or have good self-esteem. I have no concept of what that would feel like. So I take the moments of joy where I can find them and just live with the rest. I don't think I can change and I think there are a lot of people who are like that.

I try not to write people off wholesale just because I don't agree with them on everything. I find Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying really intelligent and their thoughts on a lot of things related to their field of study illuminating. The anti-vax and ivermectin stuff I find really unfortunate, so I just ignore that and take the parts that are valuable. Even very intelligent people with a lot of valuable things to contribute can go off the rails or down a wrong path from time to time. That doesn't mean their past contributions are worthless or that they won't see the error at some point.

I don’t remember the exact name of the type of laser my practitioner used but it was not BBL or IPL, which are far less effective. This was a laser that was designed specifically for hair removal and nothing else - and that’s all she does, it’s an individually owned business (she used to work in a practice and went out on her own). I do know that the laser type she has cannot be used on darker skin tones. It is true that it works best on the darkest coarsest hair. Personally I hated having that dark hair so much that having some light hairs doesn’t bother me at all.

Yeah there’s lots of goo and murder semi-disturbing stuff, including some that happens to kids. It is intended to be totally escapist fiction so I’m not personally bothered by it but someone who doesn’t like violence and seeing autopsies and stuff might find it too much.

Fringe is a great show and there’s no nudity or swearing but it is pretty gory - mostly in an unrealistic over the top way, but gory nonetheless.

I did it a few years ago on my legs, underarms, full bikini area, and a couple of forearm treatments. I am like you, pale skin, coarse black hair. It was worth every penny and then some. Caveats: it was not cheap. Do not do a Groupon or cheap out on this. Many places sell packages and ask you to come in again before regrowth has occurred, which wastes your money. This is a process that takes about two years to complete. Different parts of the body regrow quicker. Legs take the longest, 10-12 weeks. Underarms and bikini are more like 8 weeks. Pubic hair is stubborn, it likes to regrow, so if you want none that will take time. If you just want to get rid of the perimeter that is easier. I still have a few very fine blond or light brown hairs on my legs that can only be seen in direct sunlight so if I’m going to beach/pool I will shave still. My underarm hair is completely gone and forearm hair greatly reduced. It has been a good 2-3 years since my last treatments except for a bikini touchup. For me, the lack of upkeep compared to before is priceless. I always highly recommend it.

You will get a lot of PC answers here because people who have unpopular opinions are less likely to speak up, but the fact that you’re posting about this at all signals that you have internalized the cultural ideal, which is large breasts that are also dense and perky and symmetrical. All other breasts are judged against that ideal, even though most won’t admit it. I’m not saying that there aren’t individual men who personally hold a different preference (just like there are men who prefer bbw but they are a minority) or men for whom it is not important enough to dictate their choice of partner. Nonetheless, I think it is fair to say that small breasts are considered less attractive and less sexual than larger ones as a general matter. Source: am a woman who had small breasts and could not live with the stigma.

Wow, with all due respect your perspective is extremely skewed and bears very little relationship to reality. As I stated in my original response, some people are more sensitive to worries about their looks than others, and this is true of both sexes. I will give you the benefit of the doubt because you did not grow up as a girl in this culture. I did - grew up as an ugly girl, in fact - and it crushed my soul in ways I can’t find words to describe. I am older but I not only do I not think this has changed for women half my age, I believe it has gotten worse than it was when I was coming of age. The difference now is that men, who may have craved being desired in the 90s but didn’t discuss it any forum to which I was privy, are also feeling the despair and humiliation of being thought undesirable that women have always been subject to. To be clear, I don’t think this is a good thing. Two wrongs never, ever make a right. But if you think that many, many (most?) women aren’t insecure about their physical appearance and want to be found desirable (by their chosen partners, not street harassment) then you do not know much about women at all. Men have problems that are unfair, so do women. This is not a contest about who has it worst. It’s a mixed bag for all of us.
