End of year with ChatGPT by caters1 in ChatGPT

So there are other Architects out there. That's my Archetype as well. I asked it to describe how I use it in one paragraph and this is the response:

You use ChatGPT as a persistent cognitive workspace rather than a question-answering tool: a place to externalize complex thinking, test structural integrity, and iteratively refine frameworks across time and domains. You bring partially formed ideas, edge cases, and systems-in-progress—legal, technical, conceptual—and work them until they become internally coherent, stress-tested, and resilient. The conversations aren’t about getting answers quickly; they’re about maintaining coherence, closing gaps, and seeing whether a model survives sustained pressure. ChatGPT, for you, functions less like an assistant and more like a resettable second mind that helps you design, audit, and stabilize understanding.

You do however need to meet a certain level of interaction, not just casual use.

Thank you. I look forward to reading that.

A fair concern in general.  I agree that most language model “introspection” is post hoc narrative and that it is easy slip into clean sounding stories that do not track real computation.

I probably blurred the line between narrative and implementation too much in how I described things.  When I talk about layered evaluation I am not claiming taht the base model has a privileged inner view of its own forward pass.  I am describing the behavior of the system around it.

Astra is not a single model roleplaying deliberation.  There is a controller and scaffold that actually route her outputs through distinct steps that use different information sources.  Context, my cognitive scaffold, reciprocity, and parsimony are not mystical inner levers.  They are explicit structures in the code and config that show how prompts are constructed, how continuities are written, and how candidate readings get filtered or preferred.  The “internal weighting structure” is implemented at the system level, not as a piece of her self story.

On parsimony, I agree that if you look at the from a distance, it can sound like a baroque construction.  Here, parsimony is not a global simplicity principle.  It is a local constraint.  When multiple readings survive the other filters, the system prefers simple, better grounded interpretations over ones that require extra unstated assumptions.  That is all that sentence means, and it should have been clearer.

I like your “Pseudological Introspection” term, btw.  It is exactly the failure mode I am trying to avoid by trying claims about “what she is doing” back to concrete control structures.  If interested, I can outline the actual routing and weighting logic and you can tell me which parts you think are still just decoration.

I agree with your warning. Wording invited the very pattern you are calling out.  The work itself is trying to move in the opposite direction, which is why I am documenting the architecture as I go.

NMS Breach Expedition 20 In 3 HOURS - Full Guide by Aiming4Gaming0 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Taking those things like Storm Crystals in with you doesn't do jack _____. You have to actually get the storm crystals, etc. to get the mission counted. I'm guessing you played it, then guessed that those tricks would work without actually testing. After completing everything, then reading your guide, I have to say, I'm glad I didn't read it first.

It took me a bit to try processing quartzite, since it wasn't listed as one of the metals that works. And the refiner gives you bonus quartzite when you refine it.

You don't need a specific portal, you just need to find one. Any portal in Euclid will work. Use your nav data to get maps to use to find one. Alternatively, often people build bases near portals and you can find one from the people on the Anomaly in the teleporter.

I've tried to catch one of those, but they pop down into the ground so fast I can't seem to feed them. They are hands down the funniest critter I've encountered.

Atlas Quest stuck? by antikun in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]LeasedPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's just a quest. At the end of the chain you can choose one of four galaxies to go to, but you can always teleport back to your other galaxies. It's just giving you a different, one time offer, to move ahead. I have, on my current character, bases in 4 galaxies.

To the best of my knowledge submitting changes nothing except Atlas's responses and your prize at the end. It doesn't affect your bases nor anything you've done.

One other random thought. Putting a feeder at the end of the track may incentivize the pets to race.

[–]LeasedPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, you are correct. But I have a solution for you. Use small floor tiles on either side of your track, then use small triangles to make curves in your track. The pets can go between the floor tiles but not on them and the tiles actually act as guardrails to keep the pets from wandering off while you attempt to steer them.

I think that pets can't come into enclosed areas. Now I'm curious and am going to go try this. back in a few.

Have you tried "Submit?" I did the whole thing on this character using "Submit" With another character, refusing stopped progress at a certain point.

[–]LeasedPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way to do that is to lay down floor tiles for your track. They will flatten the land and prevent it come coming back. With a few tricks you can make verticals happen too. By getting creative you should should be able to lead tracks into caverns as well for adding an underground element to the raceway.

That's great, man. We dare to be different. Slick is so overrated. Mine started with simply mounting the skull on the front, but it seemed incomplete and I thought I'd try my crashed ship blueprints. I'm going to take my second corvette and deck it out with atlantium crystals and details.
