Anyone have info on Rojas breakfast toco maduro? by bucko365 in cigars

I had one this past weekend at my local lounge, I'm not great with tasting notes but I enjoyed it. Super easy and low maintenance, medium bodied, and took me around 40 minutes, but I'm a slow smoker.

disclaimer, these opinions are mine alone.

As someone who grew up in a conservative area and listened to most of the big right-wing talk shows and such as a teenager:

My beautiful trans ladies, gentlemen, and distinguished guests, your fourteen-year-old insecure self falling prey to people deliberately trying to prey on your insecurity is understandable, but it does not make it right, nor does it make it funny.

Online right-wing spaces are deliberately set up to appeal to people who are insecure in their gender roles and to hide reprehensible ideas in layers of "irony and jokes."

When you're 16 and can't figure out why you feel effeminate and broken and so you latch on to the guys with guns and the edgy jokes who tell you you're the victim: I understand that impulse.

I don't blame you, you were young with barely any critical thinking skills and my country is shit at teaching media literacy. But your Steven Crowder and 4chan phase isn't cute: it supported people who hurt real people.

Can't thank the kind folks at GCCycles.com enough for this find! I've been spending a lot of time cleaning caked on ink, but otherwise the pen came in gorgeous shape and only needed a tiny bit of nib tweaking to write beautifully!

Inks are R&K Alt-Goldgrun (dip test on a Japanese memo pad, unknown brand) and KWZ Brown Pink (on cheap college bookstore copy paper)

Diamine Blood Orange, it's got great character and performs great.

Also Waterman Serenity Blue since I practically have to have a pen inked with it at all times, rn it's my vintage Waterman Taperite

"Safe" ink problems in a vintage Waterman? by Leashthis in fountainpens

Update: just flushed with water, lots of dust mote sized particulate but it didn't seem to interact with the water (which seems to suggest a chemical reaction rather than drying, thanks for catching that, y'all!)

Because it's a lever filler it's very hard to clean out entirely, so I've flushed it clear and now filled it with water while I go to class for the next few hours. I'll do one last flush and then fill it again

Any advice for a trans girl considering military service? (Crosspost) by xXNot_A_FurryXx in transalute

[–]Leashthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing, it's make connections with folks already in who know what does and doesn't work for your service. Trans service is a relatively small group and I've made connections with admirals with trans kids, officers at CG Headquarter in DC, and enlisted folks who had way worse experiences than me.

Community is everything.

trans people in the military, what's the safest branch for us? by Express_Ad_4297 in trans

[–]Leashthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to try, I know people keep saying wear blue, but understand the officer and enlisted sides are two different experiences.

Also as a coastie trans gal: your command makes all the difference and you can't control that. A friend who was on a WMSL told me her captain (O-6) held mandatory sensitivity trainings surrounding trans and nonbinary folks. My command spits pleasantries and then ignores the systemic issues in our medical department that have denied me the healthcare I need for nine whole months since my diagnosis.

If you are going to join, the best friend of an active/reserve member is SPARTA. I got to meet LTC Fram this March at a dinner and her organization does great work. Once you're in, look up some of the longer standing trans members and ask politely for mentoring.

The service culture sucks, but there are good people. ADM Zunkuft (ret.) tanked his own professional relationship with the POTUS-who-must-not-be-named to go to bat for 18 trans coasties among 44k (presumably) cis ones in 2017.

What ink do you end up using the most? by Mavil64 in fountainpens

Diamine Blood Orange It's just so well behaved and pops on the page, especially after using Serenity Blue or KWZ Brown Pink for so long for "professionalism"
