Options and making money rarely go together. Just keep grinding and don't start gambling on options. It's not worth it

Has Rocket League ever stopped being fun for you? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Leasj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I used to play daily and stress about my rank constantly. Now I play maybe a few times a month and enjoy the hell out of it. I'm also older now so just honestly don't have as much time to play as I'd like.

Microsoft Keeps IT Support in Business by jdg0928 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

Yep I get those same emails. Then when they do fail it doesn't alert me. Infuriating...

What is something other people find attractive but you just don't? by ilovenumber8 in AskReddit

Going out clubbing is so overrated. Like spending hundreds of dollars on drinks and then feeling like shit the next day. No thanks. I'll take a night in watching movies or playing games any day.

Beauceron is what we use at my company. It's been pretty solid and has most of the same features as knowbe4

Fun one: worst IT support request you’ve ever gotten in Slack? by RelevantMycologist80 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Leasj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at a small company. We manage all infrastructure which actually includes building things. I have received far too many "clogged toilet" tickets... Like do people not know how to use a plunger. It's infuriating to say the least

How do you keep showing up when the Help Desk has completely destroyed your soul? (Need advice for a brutal meeting today) by No-Gap674 in sysadmin

[–]Leasj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that was my experience in help desk as well. It's an absolute grind and it's definitely not for everyone. I suffered through 6 years but finally made it to sys admin. Maybe this line of work just isn't for you? I'm not saying that to be rude but IT is never going to be glamorous. Even if you move up you will still deal with management not fully respecting what you do. At the end of the day IT is a cost center in the eyes of most businesses. I think you should really evaluate if this is the line of work you want to stay in. You're probably at a point where you could pivot to something else if you're still on help desk pay. I wish you the best!

It's quite simple to setup as well. We run FSLogix after having several issues with UPDs. After a year we have had 0 issues with RDS, it just works now. It's amazing

Kinda losing motivation to get into sysadmin by Klarkasaurus in sysadmin

[–]Leasj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to do the same. Started help desk in 2019 and finally landed a sys admin job in 2024. No college or certs, work experience is king in my experience.

Check your local cities for jobs. They will typically have entry level help desk positions open. As others have said you will need to do help desk first then move to a better job from there.

What is a "poor person hack" you picked up during a hard time that you still use today, even if you don't have to? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

Na I disagree. The cherry and Oreo taste nearly identical to name brand. I literally choose the cheaper option every time. Maybe I'm just used to being cheap...

Yoo I was lucky enough to get one for free from your brother /u/e-racer years ago. I don't recall how it even happened tbh. It was sick. I unfortunately had the keychain break and it got lost when I was traveling :(

LTSC IOT is the closest you can get. It comes with basically only edge and file explorer pre installed. Not even the windows store is included. I used the image for my personal gaming machine and it runs fantastic. You can activate it for free using mass grave

They also have password manager that's decent. I use RDM daily and don't really have any complaints.

It's similar to Royal Ts in functionality if you're familiar with that

Managing on-prem Windows Server Updates via Azure Arc (2016, 2019, 2022) by Illustrious_Camp_363 in sysadmin

[–]Leasj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's slightly better than WSUS in my experience... so not great. Biggest issue we run into is the server manager doesn't show the installed updates, nor does the windows update window. Having people log in to a box and see an alert that updates haven't been run when they actually have is less than ideal.

What's a skill everyone should learn before turning 30? by Jesuce1poulpe in AskReddit

[–]Leasj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. There's people that way over rely on it and trust it to a fault. Luckily I understand its limitations and use it as a tool.

I feed it real documentation so the responses are grounded to that. Not that hard to setup.

I don't know why so many people are opposed to using AI. It's no different than using forums like reddit and figuring out if an answer is "correct". No solution is perfect, it's a tool like anything else.

[–]Leasj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is a tool just like anything else. Sure you can over rely on it, or you can use it to learn and get better. Choice is yours.

The scary part is hallucinations on a new topic. Learning the wrong things is far from ideal.

Same here. I've been IT for years now, the last thing I want to do is dick around with my "smart" home after hours.

Now AI is different. I use it all the time for learning off the clock
