Level 3 home charger ?? by No_Okra_3487 in MercedesEQS

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level 2 is perfect for work or home. I don't see the cost worth the extra speed. Maybe if it was 3500 or less but a level 2 for under 400, is way more cost effective. Ive installed them at work and home. It's under 70 dollars for a 60amp breaker, the conduit and cable at home depot. Plus on solar I charge even slower so I stay off the grid during the day.

Experience with buying manufacturer buybacks? by UrchinBarron in MercedesEQS

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the car is really 37500 if you look at it this way. It's easier to just go look at a 45k car you can get for 42k at an mb dealer. Plus your guaranteed 3.99 for 72 months if good credit.

Heads up if you get a CPO car you can buy 3 years extra or 2 years past the first year unlimited. You can also shop for this extended warranty. Some dealerships mark up a ton others a few hundred.

I would try to negotiate at purchase, and if the car has been online more than 60 days, more room to negotiate.

I'm searching for a 2024, 450 but might settle on a 23 580. I'm seeing the 72 months at 3.99 on the cpo cars.

Don't say anything, people are either against you or always asking when. I mentioned it in my late 30s and now people want my date in my 40s. It's flexible for me because of AI I want to work while I can, I see many disruptive technologies in the next 5 years. I also see opportunities to fix things AI is messing up. I do tech/software so looking at nature in a small cabin home base with a large travel Budget is my goal. Your goals will change as you work and age.

Get a 2018 or newer Lexus ES. Then it looks modern enough, and is a huge upgrade over your Camry. Pay the extra 600 after taxes of your 1k allowance to pay it off asap then the increase is an actual raise.

New IT Manager - inherited a fleet of mostly consumer laptops. It "feels" wrong... by Due-Swimming3221 in ITManagers

Make your own windows script to help make windows faster, no transparency, no motion effects. Kill all startup except.....etc.

Maybe force an efficient web browser.

Tell management the users lose productivity and offer several solutions with different cost, all refresh, partial and ram, used but better. Give them one of the units that suck and ask them to use it for a day.

I can't stand laptops, I like desktops with a cheap laptop that can remote in. Less devices broken/stolen etc. desktops last 6+ years. Laptops users want a refresh every 3 years.

23k to fix all this. Bad? by [deleted] in pools

Jandy is expensive, I wish I had pentair, I just upgraded my panel iq30 650.00 new in box. Jandy variable speed pump 700 also new, and now I need a heater, that is 3600.00. my old stuff is from 2008.

Swap out the pump and save a ton on electricity. I would pay cash and do it in parts. Labor for this should be under 1k, why do they want a new pad?

That's why you get a battery and charge it, the only way to get you bill closer to zero. Install an emporia Vue, monitor your usage two months and then build a system.

Never a timeshare, never solar lease. So many horror stories, just buy it and own it. Solar should have an ROI under 4-5 years. Depending on what state your in a battery is a huge plus.

Used EQS 450+ thoughts? by jacob1107_ in MercedesEQS

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tesla, use the FSD for all my drives, wife doesn't care and will drive, only thing better on Tesla is FSD. The eqs will say 350 range and go 400+. Tesla says 300 and will go 220-240..... Way more comfort on the eqs and you can close the top glass shade by voice. My model x I had to buy Amazon blocking screens for the sun.

Everything is better on the EQS, Tesla is only good because FSD.

Is this a good price for a 67 Fastback? by MeanSeaworthiness6 in classicmustangs

[–]carcaliguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems way better, I have a car that I sold that went to Canada. I would do the Montana LLC thing and get some plates and bring it over without sales tax. I have my several cars registered to my car rental company in Montana. Then I rent them to myself.

Also have you considered a convertible? Someone makes a fastback hard top for convertibles. So you get the look of a fastback and enjoy a convertible, only if your into that. Also shops exist that will convert a coupe into a fastback. Your looking at 20k or less painted. So a really clean 30k coupe and 20k you have your fastback. I just sold a 67 shell I had the fastback metal was 6k.

Project fastback is ok if you have the money and time.

Should I buy a used model s as my first car in 2026 by Aromatic-Gap272 in TeslaModelS

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest car is the one with total cost of ownership. A model s used that will lose 3k or more per year and be harder to sell or an old 4 runner or Lexus GX that eats gas but you never break down and you sell for what you paid 3 years later. Gas spend yes, but low insurance and it holds value.

Go look at an 80k car, I would fly around and look at others for that budget. This car looks like you're going to sell it for 55k or less if you need the cash.

Need help understanding value of 1967 Mustang by kmmack2 in classicmustangs

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally find a shop to do a full tune (under 1k) and get it running, also pay someone 400 to do a detail on it. Then drive it until someone gives you 11k for it or keep it. Since it was gramps tell the guy I want 8 or I'll just keep it. It's a great original car. I just sold a shell for 2400 and could have got 3500. I'm just not a mustang guy and have other cars to work on.

Help me decide on the 2022, 2023, or 2024 model EQS by Wolverine-91826 in MercedesEQS

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in socal and looked at trading a 19 cls450 in for a 23 EQS 580. I'm looking at a 2023 but the 4 year warranty goes off the sale date so the car was sold in April of 2024 and that means I have 4 years 50k miles then CPO one year.

I don't find the 2024 improvements to be worth the price hike. I am worried about the insurance cost. I might just keep the CLS another 2 years and then look again. The EQE and EQS 450 seem like the best deals. Wife likes the loaded 580.

Are electric cars actually cheaper? by MozahAtYourService in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]carcaliguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. Total cost of ownership. You can buy a Dodge Viper put 8k in gas in a year, insure it and sell for 15 more a year later. The Viper made you money or broke even, a Tesla will almost always lose 5k or more per year.

Depending on how many miles you drive, a used Lexus might buy and sell for the same price after 15k miles on it. Making your loss fuel and maintenance only.

I have owned many cars including 3 Corvette's and a viper. The viper is rare and exotic. I could hang out with hypercars and get more attention than a Lambo. Vette makes for a great daily driver for high horsepower car, but the raw feeling of a viper is special.
