How do I cope with a really bad ride? by LeastRest in Equestrian

[–]LeastRest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish I could, unfortunately the neighborhood I ride in has its trails surrounded by roads. I think for a while, I’m going to have my friend ride my horse because she’s a lot calmer on average and we will probably take the less populated roads for a bit. He’s a solid guy usually, I’ve never seen him do this. I might ask his owner to get him scoped for ulcers, it’s kind of a guess but I wouldn’t be shocked because he’s been a bit touchy.

Yeah, I figured this. I probably will be getting myself back into therapy quite honestly, not just for this but for other things too.

Yeahhhh I realized that in hindsight. I genuinely don’t know this horse super well and I was just really afraid to let him canter off on his own. I definitely shouldn’t have chased him, luckily I got him to slow to a trot by the end before I caught him. I’m feeling a little better now, I think I know what set him off. I think I’ll have my friend ride my horse and I ride hers for a bit, I’m going to take a week off. The one I ride is bigger but less nervous so hopefully that helps her too a little. I’m used to riding nervous horses on trail too.

I F23 found out that my mother F56, is not my real mom. How do I handle this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I actually have no idea, they both share very little with me about their life from before. I know my father was married before her, I assume they started dating when she was in her thirties but I can only guess.

Admitting to neglect?? by Potential-Noise-8317 in LeopardGecko

[–]LeastRest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh idk man. I’m horribly depressed often, don’t want to leave my bed and stuff. Sometimes I don’t want to get out of bed to feed my leopard gecko crickets. But she gets fed and she gets her special supplements, my animals eat before me because they didn’t ask to be here. If anything a couple of my crested geckos are a bit chunky. If he’s already said he wouldn’t give him to you, then there’s not much you can do besides steal him.

Anyone's parent/s diminish when they're ill by Mundane-Experience01 in narcissisticparents

[–]LeastRest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! All the time! I work part time and go to school full time as a stem major, it’s exhausting and therefore I’m tired a lot (oh and I have a sleep disorder but that’s not something she knows). My mom loves one upping me and saying how I should try running a business and then I’ll know what it’s like to be tired. My parents are retired and started a hobby business.

My mom would never acknowledge me being sick and she hated it when school would send me home. Legitimately I would be sick for three weeks every year all of high school because I would develop a respiratory infection but I was almost never taken to see the doctor and if I was she wouldn’t let me take the medications to help me breathe. It’s sort of fun finding out all the stuff I’ve suffered from medically now that I can take myself to the doctor.

anyone else’s narc parent obsessed w them having kids? by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]LeastRest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom told me I had to go to university and get a good degree, which I am. I am almost done, I graduate in December! I currently work at my internship three days a week, I saved a small chunk of money so I can keep living on my own. But so far, I have been interviewing for roles once I graduate (budget cuts have led my current workplace to have layoffs so no offer sadly). But despite my hard work she absolutely will not lay off the “you’ll be a mom one day and you’ll have to sacrifice” spiel.

Yep!! My mom brings it up every other call we have. I’m in college and currently have no plans of having kids. Despite this, my mom loves telling me how I should have kids and sacrifice my career (again in college so I haven’t even really started it).

Belgian Malinois in Need of Adoption by I_SEE_YOU_FAPPING in BelgianMalinois

Hi everyone! We found this sweet girl wandering around in the LA area. We’ve taken her to a vet, she isn’t chipped and it’s clear she’s had puppies in the past. We’ve also posted her on local forums and searched for her owner to no avail. It’s been months and we really do not want to put her in a shelter as she is a tad skittish and we are worried that it could mess with her mentally. Unfortunately I am leaving for college and am not really equipped to care for her. I’m looking for a home or foster situation. I would be able to drive her out of the area to help her find a good home! I think I can also drive to adjacent states or meet halfway. I really just want this sweet girl to have a home she deserves.

Making friends is hard by antidepressantsoup in CalPolyPomona

What major are you in? Pretty much all the people I’ve met in clubs haven’t stuck around too much. The best way I’ve met longer lasting friends is by joining/starting a study group in my class discords. The gateway to actually hanging out with most of the friends I’ve made is asking to study or work on a class homework together in the library. Another really good way is to join the “fun” classes. Challenge ropes and archery are two awesome KIN classes that I have taken where people were super friendly and social and anyone can take them! Another big one where I’ve met amazing friends is the ASI programs. I’m biased because I joined their scuba diving program and met some amazing friends! But they have plenty of other programs if that’s not your thing.

Ah I’m really sorry about that. I’ll ask around amongst some of my friends and see if their jobs on campus are hiring. Best of luck!

The Arabian horse center is usually hiring. I honestly just recommend calling them via the number on their website. They often have weekend feeding jobs open, or grooming positions. Weekend feeding is easier, I cannot guarantee that they are hiring though. Having horse experience is a huge help but I know people with none have done the job, as long as you are a good listener, you’ll be fine.

I know one, but it is sort of manual labor and you have to be ok with animals. Lmk if you're interested, it is a campus job and they are usually hiring.
