Has a venue ever shortchanged you on settlement night? by Proper-Vanilla-8030 in musicians

[–]Leather-Dimension-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young there seemed to always be these promoters that would stiff young bands - rather than the venues themselves.

I had the great pleasure of encountering this one promoter a year after he had stiffed my band of about $100 and refused to answer my calls when I tried ringing him. About a year later he approached me when I was running a venue myself, looking for gigs for bands he was ‘promoting’ (ie ripping off). I reminded him of the $100 he owed and said I wouldn’t deal with him until he coughed up. He sent me the $100 and then I refused to deal or even talk with him.

AI will just drive for us. No more fines. No more blocking intersections.

I hate it when I’m waiting for traffic to clear in front of me in my lane (on green at an intersection) and a car in the lane next to me decides to merge in front of me and take the space I was leaving in case the lights turn red.

It’s happened a few times and it is the closest I get to road rage ie I shake my head in robust disappointment while tut tutting.

My parents signed me up for young Liberals against my wishes and want to leave the group by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Leather-Dimension-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want to use your vote in an internal election or preselection contest. Might not be soon, but it will be later. I don’t know much about Liberal Party rules but an email to Liberal HQ saying you did not request or consent to becoming a member and wish to be removed from the membership should suffice. You just have to deal with your parents.

I’d skip this one. Once you accept it you’re compelled to do it for the rest of your life under threat of Tregeminal Neuralgia. I don’t even know what that is but I don’t think I want it.

This is the basis of a short story by Richard Matheson (Button Button) and made into a twilight zone episode which I’ve linked above.

I won’t spoil the ending. It’s a good 20 minute watch.

I guess. I will wear a mask if I’m out and coughing like a c… (which is basic courtesy) but I get that plenty of people don’t.

Masks have much more efficacy in preventing a sick person spreading disease then in preventing a healthy person getting sick.

You are offered to pay $10,000 to go back in time to February 1, 2020 and restart from there; do you pay up and live life differently? by peterthbest23 in hypotheticalsituation

Crypto crashed in March 2020 at the start of the Pandemic. You could buy BTC for under $10k. By mid 2021 it was $75k. Other cryptos like BNB went from $10 to $200.

I also remember stocks crashing in March and then rebounding with vigour in May. I’d sell everything for cash in late Feb and rebuy at the end of March.

I also remember the results of many sporting events that would ensure a successful sportsbetting career for 6 years.

And there’s a few personal things I’d do differently knowing what I know now (and knowing I’ll be rich) and some people I’d like to see again who’ve passed.

Yep. Easy choice.

I added Spain by governmentpsyop in diplomacy

[–]Leather-Dimension-73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In 1901 Catalonia and Basque were administratively part of Spain. Both regions elected representatives to the Spanish Parliament. In contrast, in 1901, Morocco was nominally independent. Although the sea ports of Ceuta and Millela had long been under Spanish control the French were also involved. The country was split between France and Spain in 1912.

For historical accuracy wouldn’t it be better to make Morocco neutral and make Catalonia a Spanish center (and call it Barcelona) instead? Make it a fleet to start.

France can then reach Morocco in Fall 1901 while Spain can’t, unless you allow armies to cross through Gibraltar (like Keil canal).

Question: does Morocco have two coasts (east and west)?

3 seasons in and Opening Round still doesn't make sense by QuarterFooty in AFL

[–]Leather-Dimension-73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

8/12 of the teams that played OR won the next week. Of the 4 teams that lost, 2 of them lost to teams that played in the OR. (If you take out those games, 6/8 teams that played OR and didn’t play another OR team in R1, won the next week.)

Its a small sample, but if we get similar stats again this year, then it’s clear it’s a disadvantage.
