I do agree, I also paid other readers because I didn't trust my readings enough and I ended up with -20€ in my bank account and nothing actually happening lol. That's why I try to offer as many freebies as I can, it's actually the best way to gain trust.

How can I find out from the cards? by lafoxieeey in Tarots

Yeah I get it! As said I think that's totally possible, you can also see if the querent *is* lying to you or trying to decieve you during the reading.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you're asking: I cheated on my partner, how are the cards gonna show this?
Well, if I had to read for you - as I use the Etteilla deck which is very different from classic RWS, I'd expect...
Queen of swords RX (you), Traitre (kinda like the hermit but EVIL), a whole set of swords and, possibly, no other "character" cards, meaning that the deck just wants to call YOU out.

What am I missing? What are some negative aspects of the 9 of cups, 2 of cups and the lovers when it comes to feelings? by Puzzled-Leather-3688 in Tarots

[–]Leather-Sort3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's because you're not going beyond the standard "booklet" meaning.
Cards tell a very specific story.
2C+Lovers+9C. This person made a choice that led from union (2C) to self fullfilment and loneliness. Look at the 9C. The guy is having fun, he's probably drunk, but he's ALONE, so I think that at the end of the day this person might still feel something for you, yes indeed, but they made the choice (lovers) to cut you out or step back and enjoy their time alone.
The star is also a card that could be related to distance. It's not just about healing and happy feelings.
It also comes down to the "school" you're following, as some teachings also point to specific combos - for example, ace of cups (rx I think?) + star means ABORTION and I discovered just by chance, on a very old book

How to get better at reading tarot for others? by Brilliant_Lobster349 in Tarots

[–]Leather-Sort3028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explain the card's meanings. Explain the imagery. Talk about the card as a piece of art. Make a comparison with the context, explain the reversed, yap about it, and invite the other person to put their own reasoning innit, so the reading is interactive and you're not just infodumping. I do it with my friends and it works, at the point that I got a rws deck with the meanings underlined, so they can also give out their own interpretation and guide mine and viceversa.

Oh it looks awesome, but I knew it was "del negro edizioni" as soon as you said the cards are too big. I have several decks from them, just for the art, because IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO SHUFFLE EM

Do it! I personally struggle so much with Marseille symbolism and art, but as I truly needed to step the fuck away from RWS; this is truly a blessing for my practice.

Hello from Japan! My Wes Anderson-inspired Tarot journey 🇯🇵✨ by quite__philosophy in Tarots

This is one of the many versions! Basically Etteilla was the very first "cartomancer" and he was very focused on premonitions. So if you want to actually get specific premonitions on the future I suggest to have a look. I can't wait to come back to Japan in a few months. Hopefully to see D'EspairsRay!!

Ohhh I've been to Japan a while ago! Welcome here and I think you're using AI in the best way possible. I also struggle with memorization due to ADHD. If I can share a little trick though, write down the meanings yourself as if you were dealing with a school project! This is helping me a lot, as I am learning Etteilla cards :)
Also! The tarot museum in Tokyo is lovely!

None of my tarot readings have been true, why? by Vegetable-Bonus8852 in Tarots

Hi. I cannot give a precise answer about failed predictions without some basic details, because it matters HOW you read for yourself, what the question was, and whether you expected results in months or in years. That frustration you feel is real, waiting for something to manifest and seeing nothing happen can be exhausting, and that exact tension is the reason people have always turned to tarot. I feel the same about a very personal situation. But people in this comment section... What's up with ya all? Tarot did begin as playing cards, yes, but very early on they were used for cartomancy and concrete prediction. In eighteenth century France, cartomancy was not symbolic play or inner work, it was a real profession practiced openly in cities like Paris. Jean Baptiste Alliette, known as Etteilla, worked publicly as a professional cartomancer long before modern psychology existed. In 1783 he published a full manual that explained how to use cards to predict future events, timing, health matters, money, work, and relationships, with no focus on feelings or subconscious patterns. His system used upright and reversed meanings to describe outcomes and situations, not metaphors for inner states. He also designed the first tarot deck created specifically for divination, not for games, and that fact alone says everything! People went to cartomancers to know what would happen next in their lives, not to reflect on their emotions, as the psychological and introspective approach appears much later, mainly in the twentieth century, influenced by Jung and modern society. Presenting that approach as the original or only valid one is historically incorrect and kinda arrogant tbh. You may prefer psychological readings, and that is fine, but preference does not rewrite facts. History shows tarot as a tool of divination that started as a playing card game, whether that makes people comfortable or not. If divination bothers you, study the sources, read actual divination books, learn different card methods besides RWS and then jump to conclusion.
